Re: Good Morning!
We found this little gem in a puddle in the back yard this week...don't you wish chicken eggs could be so intense!

Re: Good Morning!
big changes have happened in our family this week. first off last friday was the kids last day at public school. after multiple unresolved issues both with the school and with the school board we have decided to go back to home schooling. the kids are absolutely happy about it all and so are we.
and the second big change is I JUST GOT A JOB!!!!! WOOOHOOO! I work for a local custom cabinet maker as an assistant. I start at 1pm this afternoon!
One other thing..... incubation hasnt been going so well this year but I have 6 chicks that hatched yesterday. 3 bantam cornish, 1 standard cornish (all from clawton) and 2 Reds! better than nothing! theres a new group of eggs in the incubator now, Reds and BSWT's. 34 eggs total.
this week has been an excellent week so far!
wish me luck! LOL

Re: Good Morning!
Had a nice encounter with a fox yesterday. Always suspicious when I see them near the farm but I love watching them none the less.
Was driving to pick up my DH from work just outside of Picton and came across a fox crossing. I slowed down then stopped about 30 ft from it to watch it. After seeing I wasn't going to run it over, it went to the ditch and pouched into it and came back out with something. It then walked back into the middle of the road and grabbed a small pile of other offerings it had caught and dropped before I came along and with a huge mouthful trotted on its way with its dinner. Really is amazing to watch them hunt and how calm and focused it was with the car so close to it.

Just candled Kathleens eggs (I so hate those stinkers in a nest). I gave her 9 and 10/12 are fertile and kicking so fingers crossed for the next 10 days. I even survived without injury.
