Tragic Evening

Post by AimeePearn » Sat Apr 01, 2017 10:34 pm

My poor eldest daughter came home tonight to find nothing but feathers from her beautiful Silkie roo and prized Silkie hen. She's just heartbroken.
It's hard to watch your kid grieve, but she's a toughie who culls her own birds. Predators are part of farm life.
The hen's chicks are missing mama tonight, but I think they are (barely) old enough to be on their own in the coop now.
The traps are out, the weak spot in the coop is fixed, and I'm determined this won't happen again.
Thanks for sharing folks. I know most of you have been through something similar.

p.s. ...on the prowl for Silkie eggs now, should you happen to have any...

Aw I am so sorry, give your daughter a big  from me. Unfortunately it is all part of having chickens and we have all lost some to predators at one point. :sighke1:

I have silkies eggs, but in my pen are also showgirls. In this group I have hatch silkie, showgirls and strippers. If interested in eggs, send me a PM
