Rare Mountain Lion
Ours you really only see at dusk and dawn and the birds aren't let out early and go to coop at night. Not too worried, they get easy pickings in the rodent infested megadome next door!

We had one out in our area a couple years ago. It ran right out across the road in front of us. Was a bit ahead of us but enough that I could see it was a big cat, 4 people in the car with me but just my son and I saw it. Was telling my neighbor of the sighting and he thought I MUST have been mistaken until he saw it about 2 weeks later. Never saw it again after that?? Lion Safari is not too far from us and was wondering if it was an escapee as they are not common in this area.

Big cats are cool, especially natural ones. About 5 years ago I was traveling with a buddy from camp at about 630 am going about 90km/h when I swore I saw a black panther in a farmers field. It was crouched down all funny eating something, I just thought it was a black lab but the tail was moving and flexing around like a cats tail. It really through me off, my buddy didnt see it and when I said "I think I just saw a black panther." He replied, "okay Si!" You know Si's black panther story from duck dynasty... we LOL but I swear I saw one and if it wasnt for that tail it could have been a black lab.
Edit... I just found an article from the sarnia observer about cougars but down near the bottom it says of a big black cat spotted on forest road in between London road and the 402, thats almost the exact area that I seen it. Maybe I did see a panther!

Same here Al, my son and I had to take a double take because it was the colour of a deer, but it was at a full out run so you could see the length of the body and could not miss that tail. By the time we got to the point were it had crossed the road it was out of visual site. Never stopped to get out and look for tracks, should have because there was snow on the ground and I could have taken a picture
Edit my post because I found this article, the areas described in this article are right where I live.

A couple years ago we had two nasty, harsh winters in a row, and the rodents moved in to scavenge bird seed, tree bark, whatever they could find...and not-a-bobcat moved right in behind the mice and rabbits and kept their numbers down nicely...and never touched a chicken, thankfully. Bobcats, cougars, wolves, bears; if you see one, there's a thousand you don't.
Ross, that's awesome <3 How do you teach them to keep their claws sheathed when playing? It's hard enough with domestic cats!

Jan lots a no no & blood
. You notice I had leather gloves /mitts on in the pic .
It's when they get big enough to put the top of your head in their mouth that it gets real interesting . Eventually & sadly as size & aggresiveness increases the daily one on one is no more & they seem to miss it just as much as you do . Just to big & powerful to play with when still have fangs & claws . We had a full grown pair as well Bonnie & Clyde who Bonnie I could interact with from outside pen , she had been bottle raised , even hook my fingers around her fangs & kinda play tug a war but Clyde who came from Lion Safari was a different story . Lol luck
