The price is right-err!

Everyone better watch out here, I am back in production and will soon put everyone out of business, I got two wittle eggs in three days which is a big improvement from two eggs in one week to nothing over the last three weeks. Unless that -20 last night screws things up again. I know it's Monica and hopefully Hillary will start up but you know those older gals (lol).

This has me thinking about chicken prices. I see a lot of chicks on line, seems the starting price is ten and runs to $25, not counting those million dollar black chickens (lucky Jim lol). My Scottish heritage nearly loses its kilt over the thoughts of buying a bunch of rooster chicks for ten and up lol. Chicks are cute but the local co-op sent flyers out, I can get ready to lay brown hens or leghorns for ten dollars. I can't raise them that cheap! This had me thinking of buying a bunch and reselling them for twenty. However I think others have this same idea, a number of people have ready to lay hens for sale priced at $15, $20 and $25 only catch is they are not ready to go just yet, the ready to go dates are the day after the store delivery dates lol. Ugh, my plans foiled again, I am starting to think that I can't get filthy rich from chickens, shocking!

The more you charge, the more people think they want them, especially if you give their colours fancy names like 'lavender cuckoo' lol

I have a batch or PBRs in the incubator...I wonder if i advertised them as "rare white Plymouth chicks with black flecking"...lol....

So WWW, what you are saying is go ahead and buy the red sex links but sell them as "Tangerine swirled vanilla frosting" and the leghorns as "Snowflake powdered mountain caps"? Sound trendy enough lol?

Hmmm, I going to help you market them, I got it Tom! First you have to put in the word heritage because BRs are an old breed, so "Heritage Sunflecked Raincloud chickens" you know because they look grey with white spots to some people. Remember at least $35 each, unless it's me, lol.

Skinny...of course, for you I would offer my 'special' price..wink wink nudge nudge..seeing as your marketing skills far surpass my own...and hey!..at a couple of weeks old the 'greyer' ones are the boys...learned that the hard way

Aye, and since you are in Quebec your rtl birds come from a place near Mirabel and you can pick them up for $8 each. Here in Ontario they come Freys and cost me $13 here. I guess its a minor benefit of living in La Belle Province!

There's a business plan! Buy $8 pullets, call them Frosted Peaches or whatever, sell them to schmucks in Kanata for $25.
