Irradiated ground beef
I know that for "the masses" its not as easy or practical as it sounds but buy local...know your supplier...this irradiation of foods is what comes from a food chain system that is broken...and its broken because there are too many people and the economic model doesn't work without constant growth and continuous consumerism....it's a shell game and governments cannot cope and its becoming more and more obvious in recent years...the feed lot, slaughter, butchering, storage, processing, retail of meat needs constant monitoring and oversight and thats just not possible on the scale that it's gotten without massive infusion of financial resources and staff to the inspection departments and seeing as we are broke now, thats not going to happen...so this irradiation process, which works well in the pharmaceutical industry by the way ( ever wonder how Q-Tips are sterilized?) is being looked at as a potential solution but it is a grasping at straws situation...MJ and I have given up on 'misery meat' as we call the
available at the supermarket and are buying much less meat but sourced from suppliers that have ethics and are thinking about the animal welfare as well as the consumer. it costs a bit more and it takes a side trip to obtain so it is less convenient but we have come to realize that 'convenience' isn't the great panacea it's made out to be...irradiation? No thanks.. :running-chicken:

One of the last recalls involved Mechanically Tenderised steak. Instead of banning mechanical tenderising lots of extra safety regulations were enacted, resulting in even more local abattoirs closing.

Seems to me that was XL Foods in Alberta who were bought by JBS in Brazil who are now in trouble for producing and selling bad meat all over the world...G Williams wrote:QR_BBPOST One of the last recalls involved Mechanically Tenderised steak. That is coming soon... Memphis Meats just announced the other day the world's first cultured chicken and duck meat. Their cultured meat is still probably more like chicken than Subway's chicken. lolBrebis wrote:QR_BBPOST Well let's just get rid of those filthy animals and culture it all in a lab, yummm!
