Homemade Floral Preservative
For each quart of water add
2 tablespoons white sugar
2 tablespoons white vinegar
1/2 teaspoon of bleach
I got this recipe from an Oklahoma Gardening episode. I haven't tried it yet.

Im not much of a flower person, but I preserved a Rose from my Grandfathers funerl 21 years ago with hairspray and still have it tucked away in a little box.
Can you explain more about preserving flower arrangments? Do you spray this on the plants when they are fresh? I remember spraying it and then hanging it to dry in my closet for a long time. But that was a heck of a long time ago and I cant remember exactly what I did.

This is to add to the water, to keep fresh cut flowers longer. Correct me if I am wrong Shnookie??
To preserve flowers I have only ever done the tie them in a bundle and hang them upside to dry.
Wow Al that's a long time to have a flower even preserved!!
I have pressed flowers in books before and did little framed floral pictures.

You're right FRF. It's for putting cut flowers or branches in to keep them healthy and longer lasting in a vase. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I should have said so in my post.
