Re: Good Morning!
Today was a busy day. Took a few birds to Hagersville, then home to finish chores. I need to go again, once I determine how many of my layers have quit for good, lol. I also took that bastard EO... I have NEVER seen a bird so bad as him. He would fly to the end of his pen, and smash his face into it, wanting to get me. Once in awhile, I would grab him and 'make him behave'. He would be good for a day or two... but then right back at it. I labeled him supper, lol.
After chores, I brought in a ton of wood... going to freeze rain/rain most of the weekend, and had a salad lunch, it was cleaning bathrooms time. GADS, I sure hate cleaning. But.. glad its done. Then did my bus run.. home and brought ANOTHER load of wood in... chores, and made supper. Mushroom and cheese omelet with BACON!! Yum. Waiting the tub... then bed with my book. Ya, I know its only about 7pm... but I go to bed early, lol. Then wake up around 2-4am, and read for an hour, or lay there and wish I could fall asleep, lol.
Seeing as how its going to be cruddy this weekend... I will make a batch of soap. See if I can screw up what I learned at WLLady's. I ordered some moulds... but they haven't come yet... so will just put it in a plastic container, and cut bars out of it. I saved tonites bacon fat... I HAD some saved a week ago..but someone in my household dumped it in the compost bucket before I could save it. Ugh.
Have a great weekend!

Re: Good Morning!
Cleaned bacon grease makes wonderful soap! I use bacon grease (cleaned) plus coconut oil and used turkey fryer vegetable oil (cleaned). The last batch bayvistafarm helped me with turned out amazing! she brought lavender essential oil from the lavender farm close to her farm, was it ever NICE! the bars smell amazing. And my hubby got me some soap moulds for my birthday and we put them to good use. BVF you do have a soap mould! The one with the 4 animals! no more buying soap at the store for me!
raining here tonight. and a balmy 4C. i think my grass is growing. Still hoping (and it might happen) that i can get to the show tomorrow for at least a little bit. Maybe bump into some folks i know ;-P Then sunday is out for dinner with friends. yay!
And of course i need to spend some time this weekend with the chickens. have some leg bands to change, the youngsters are growing like mad. did a final head count on my last hatch. 5 leghorns, nice skinny white leghorns. and well, wait for it....4 boys! gah! why are there so many boys! i was hoping to get a trio....but unless someone wants a trio of cockerels....yeah right. I think i have a great solid base for the silver welbars, 3 very nice girls, and one ooookay cockerel. And a great solid base to my gold welbars, 2 good cockerels, and 5 good girls. AND my rhodebars too! 2 good looking boys and at least 7 girls-many of whom are just starting to lay!
my turkey girls were posturing for the boys today. i guess i'll be splitting up the breeding pairs sooner than i thought. i better secure a few more heated buckets...
happy friday evening everyone! hopefully i'll see some of you at the show tomorrow! i'm going to try to get there, fingers crossed for no freezing rain.
