Doug the chicken man, tried to convince them to carry the numbered bands, because they only carried the wire ones and those can cause so much damage to birds legs, but not sure he manage to convince them?JimW wrote:QR_BBPOST Rooney's Feed in Kemptville has leg bands, not sure if they have numbered ones or not.

I was there today but forgot to check. I know they carry the spiral ones (I think those are the wire ones), I bought a few awhile back, but did not how they went on so did not even use them. I might have to order some better ones online.Ontario Chick wrote:QR_BBPOSTDoug the chicken man, tried to convince them to carry the numbered bands, because they only carried the wire ones and those can cause so much damage to birds legs, but not sure he manage to convince them?JimW wrote:QR_BBPOST Rooney's Feed in Kemptville has leg bands, not sure if they have numbered ones or not.

Sorry, by wire ones I meant the spiral ones, they have a way of growing in to the leg, or leg growing around them, you only need to see that once, to never use them again.

I also bought the pliers and 2 toe punches. Things are getting serious real quick over here! All from ebay... man our dollar is way down! total was was $136.89 USD which converted to $191.03 CAD. So 38 cents a band... Not bad.

I use the turkey wing bands. Kind of a pain because you have to catch the bird but there's a selection if other ID here. Local for me too. Vian wants to start using RFID - really.

Too big for chickens but they might work on the turkeys.
