Morning everyone.
Hope y'all are doing wonderful and enjoying this mild winter. Again I've been ripped off my Canadian winter!! When will I get a good solid 4 months of cold and snow?
Well, it's actually a good thing it is mild because windows have to stay open here. Pressure (frequencies) from the turbines make my house unbearable for me if windows are closed. Odd to figure that out, I know. Trust me I know. Average temperature at home is 60-62 degrees. No furnance. Just a whole heck of a lot of wood! Grrrrrrr!!!
Kathy, so glad to read you are up and moving around and having the simple life right now. Take the time you need, nothing ordinary about being filet open and essentially being reconstructed.
I have a friend in the hospital right now. She's young too, 47, and just got a complete knee replacement surgery. Waitress her whole life. And essentially crippled and on so many pain killers to exist each day and work. She lost the use of her leg so she's in the hospital until at least the end of the month. I know she is so bored and wants to be home so I spend as much time as possible over there. I HATE hospitals. You've gotta be important for me to visit you in the hospital. Ok, so we had a wheel chair race with a custodian dude. Had too. Gotta have some fun when you're locked up with roommates that exceed the age of 90 each!!
I also have a friend who is 89 this year and seems to be consuming a lot of my time. Her memory is slipping and her son got her cordless phones. Well, I tell ya, the confusion this has put in her life. She will pick up a phone and hold it at her Ear and say see it's dead!! Gotta push the green talk button. She just can't remember that after all these decades of picking up a handset and using. And she can't figure out up from down on these phones. She's incredibly independent, lives on her own and is self efficient, but give her something new and its chaos. For me. I've been there numerous times in the last few weeks trying to sort her out. Last visit I unplugged her cordless and put her wall phone back in. LOL. She called me before I was home and complained the cordless was dead. LOL. I sent Josh and his girlfriend over to help explain it. I still get phone calls telling me her phone line isn't working. Tomorrow when I go there I'm throwing those frigging phones out! She can't believe people just carry a phone. She got the giggles when she said her son has a phone in his pocket he can carry anywhere. I don't bring my phone in when I go visit, I can only imagine the chaos lol!
Met a wonderful man yesterday. I go through a lot of eggs over here. About 6-8 dozen a month. If 8 is available I do 8, but try to keep at 6. Shirley doesn't have any for me this time around and my other contact, her birds aren't laying or are laying very few. So there is this farm and he always has chickens ranging everywhere and they look happy and healthy. I also saw ducks. I've been meaning to pop in for years ... Y'all know how it is. Yesterday I was out doing errands and randomly decided today was the day. A lot of hens followed me to the door and I knocked and introduced myself. He's a wonderful elderly man. Has green houses. He sells flowers, planters and vegetables etc in the warm weather. So when I knocked on his door he showed me around outside for a bit and where the eggs are to self serve etc. He raises ducks, cleans and sells. Pigs too. I asked what he fed his chickens. He cooks for them.

He has a deal worked out with the mgr at the local food basics and gets older food drastically discounted if not free and they have some trade off. Barter I suspect. Anyways, he was cooking up sausage and vegetable goulash he called it, for them and offered to show me what he's cooking for them for tomorrow. Me, in true awkward Sandy style, declined saying, you know, I have watched too many episodes of 'the following' and maybe when I know you better. He asked what the following was and I said a tv series and every time I turn around someone is being murdered. He laughed hard and said oh you young folks these days. He called me young. We will be lifelong friends I can feel it!! So eggs. $3 for the small ones I can give the animals. $5 for eggs that won't even let the cartons close. Haha! And he has ducks!!! So next time I go, I'll be bringing peas, only because he said I could :)
Ava and Drake are doing well. Drake sleeps 95% of his day away and Ava is still a nut case. Energy to spare and so very playful. Incredibly bonded to me.
Well, must be getting back to life over here. Cheers, until we chat again :)
