good afternoon everyone!
well, friday the 13th clobbered me with the stomach flu and a trip to the hospital last night to get IV liquids in me because i couldn't keep anything down all day. sigh. not something i want to repeat. gravol is my best friend today....but i'm vertical again. just glad we have ems!!! so it's going to be a slow weekend for me i think.
blech.

starting to think about hatching.....hope my back is strong enough for me to look after the birds soon! trying to heal....just keep getting blind sided by these other things like stomach flu. hopefully this is the last of it....hopefully!

Anybody into Astrology? I've always thought it was baloney (my sister's into it) but I'v had some strings of crap happen...makes me wonder.

So Dec 19 was the start of "retrograde Mercury" that was the -30 day when the starter went on the Big Red tractor ($700) and the Kubota blew a hydraulic hose (replacement fluid $50 and its still not fixed!). Next day door handle of front door broke in my hands. Monday Jan 9th was the last day of retrograde and the muffler blew off my dad's subaru (the folks are in Florida until March). Today a tire blew on my VW. In early December I kissed a guardrail in a snowstorm at 40km/h ...$2000 of damage.

I've been fighting with the pellet stove...hunk a junk. Or the pellets are not as dry/good as they should be.

Next retrograde: April 9 to May 3rd. Gotta get me a hard hat.

Well I was just giving Ozzy an olive oil and rosemary massage when I realised he had a totally crooked keel! I guess the ladies knew best. Delicious though.

okay in any other forum i would think we are all stark raving mad giving massages to birds LOL. i guess your girls were right! glad he tasted good

finally starting to feel human again today. geez. that was not fun i tell ya. the doctor in emerg warned me it was going to brutal but thankfully short. so 72 hours and i think i'll wake up pretty normal tomorrow. blech. and blech again! i don't ever want to do that again! i gotta get healed up and get my immune system back!!!!
the other annoyance right now is i eat and my body temp skyrockets and i start sweating like crazy! don't know if anyone else has had this after surgery...it's rather irritating....wish i could harness the btus and put them into my right leg that needs it tonight! but i managed to walk a mile today. on my treadmill....but the BIG NEWS, is i managed to get on my winter coat (all by myself) and my shoes (all by myself) AND walk to the barn (all by myself without the walker or an escort) AND up the stairs to the loft (with an escort making sure i didn't fall down the stairs) and i got to see all my birds!!!! YAY! martin had spot cleaned under the roosts and all the nasty bits and given them all some fresh shavings, they were soooo happy! my silver welbar and my BTBM boys both have bad comb frostbite, but no one else does, so i'll have to watch those lines for bad circulation issues....although the BTBM is always swimming when he drinks. he'll just look like he's dubbed in the spring i think....he'll lose his points for sure. oh well. i could vaseline them, but it's going to be 9C here in 2 days! argh! everyone else is perfectly fine. martin's been doing a great job! even fixed one of the feeders the birds were scooping and emptying. then i went back downstairs (with an escort-those are steep stairs!) and then back to the house all by myself (and had a nap....lol).
but that's the first time i managed to get up to see the birds! i'm hoping that in a couple of weeks i can start helping out with some of the lighter chores...even just showing up for chores, maybe collecting a few eggs with the reacher....i can't get to ground level yet, not for a while yet. and amazing how much you need your back for walking and stuff. ready to just flake out for the night now. but it was so nice!!! even just to see the birds again. hopefully there will be more trips in the near future out there. have a great night everyone.

Kathy, SO glad you are feeling better. The bug that has been going around is a nasty and it would hit you hard when your immune system is down after the surgery. Oh and the sweats when you eat, I had the very same thing after both my knee surgery's. Here I thought I was the only one, wonder why?? I put it down to the pain or the medication but never figured out why only when I was eating??
Bet the chickens where glad to see you and must have been a wonderful feeling to be able to get out to the barn again

Yep those stairs Kathy figured they was a little steep when I used um . I couldn't , wouldn't be able to use at all now . My upstairs in barn & house I ain't seen in years . 7 empty pens in barn upstairs . I get the hot / sweats regular after all meals too . Doc says it's the pain meds I take . Hope yours go away might won't . Luck
