Also depends on where in the year the Chinese New Year fell. Vian would have been something else but his birthday (Feb 5th) fell before the year changed so was the previous years animal.

But if you are born in january or early feb you are actually the previous years animal....because chinese new year in end of jan/early feb

Yup, this year Chinese New Year starts January 28

Now ya all made me look, turns out DH isn't a monkey, but a sheep (I would like to think a ram

I have a book about Feng Shui that has a Chinese Animals Table. For each year there is an animal and an element (water in your case, fire in my case). The elements also relate to your personality.

The book says this about The Rooster.

This description doesn't fit me. Maybe it only applies if you are Chinese. :) I'm a Cancer. The description for that sign fits me really well.

I googled it. My oldest was born in Feb. 1990, year of the horse, but because Chinese new year started on some ridiculous date like March 5 or something that year, he's actually a snake.
