Let it snow! Let it snow???

Post by Skinny rooster » Mon Dec 05, 2016 9:52 am

The weather man/woman certainly got it wrong this morning. They were saying "no accumulation to 2cms" for this morning. We are close to ten already and climbing! I am going in later, all morning I hear about cars and buses in the ditch near my work. The area is flat and snow drifts onto the road making it slippery. I didn't want a green Christmas but....

They got it wrong here too, only forecast rain and was a good 2-3 inches of the white stuff! Almost all gone now though....
So much for Environment Canada's new weather super computer!

Last night they forecast 1-2 cm overnight in our area. We woke up to at least 5 cm on the ground. The forecast was changed to 5-10 cm this morning. I'm guessing that by the time it's done coming down at around noon, maximum estimate will be met or exceeded. The commute into Ottawa was ridiculous: it took 2 1/2 hours for a trip that normally takes around 50 minutes to an hour.

We are having blowing snow, wind chill of -26, gusts up to 50 km per hour for the next couple of days. There are more drifts in my yard than accumulation right now. Winter is here. On the other hand, only 16 days until the shortest day of the year, then day length gets longer (slowly).

That's right I did. Then I took a crowbar, twisted the metal free of the tire, and drove home. (Then I put the snow tires on....it moved up my "to do" list)

I stay off the road the first two snowstorms (if I can). Then I drive.

The drive to Kanata wasn't bad until Carp Road. 90km/h most of the way on the hwy.

Someone thought it was a good idea to keep their car sideways on the Hwy and park it there. Not sure why they wouldn't pull over onto the shoulder or push it.
