Question Homemade chicken treats

Good question, KimChick. I guess it depends on how "trimmed" they are. I have one BSL who I had her beak trimmed before she came to live with our flock, and hers I would say is "moderately trimmed". As in, I've seen worse, and way worse. Still, it's trimmed more than necessary IMO: there's a big enough gap between her bottom and top beak that I can sometimes see a bit of her tongue. :-( She does peck at the treat blocks but not nearly as much as the others. I'm not sure how much she gets out of it, but it does give her something to do, which is its main purpose anyway. She has more interest in cabbage when I hang it, probably because it's a bit softer, and because once the others get it started, it's easier to pick off loose bits.

BTW, I didn't have her beak trimmed - sorry, that "I" in "I have one BSL who I had her beak trimmed ..." was a fat finger typo. I don't advocate beak trimming at all. She came to us with her beak already trimmed. I had no voice in the matter.

I used to have about 30 red sex links who all had there beaks trimmed and some quite horribly. they allready lived at the old place when we moved in. I was a bit taken back by them when I first saw them but was very happy to see that they got along just fine. I never really noticed them having any difficulties at all in there daily lives.
