Jan
Marks work wearhouse also has pretty durable work scrubs and a good assortment of womens work footwear. Infinite patience....having seen alzheimers and dementia rob families of their loved ones and rob individuals of their love and comfort, leaving fear and uncertainty...calmness. compassion. Touch...a friendly smile and a nice word....and patience. Especially the 40th time...lol.

Congrats WWW on your new chapter!
I have nothing but respect for those that work with our elderly. Having spent many hours visiting an Alzheimer's wing I think you will find this a very rewarding position. My advice in dealing with memory issues-live in their moment...if someone thinks you are their daughter that day just go with the flow, if they think they are waiting for their mom to take them home, don't correct them. Be understanding and soothing. Best wishes to you!

Only problem I foresee so far is I'm going to get attached. :D
Getting attached will be the very best (and worst) part of your job.

Congratulations WWW! I'm very happy for you. I use to work in the health care system with brain injured. It was very rewarding overall and I loved it.

 cheers Jan...I tip my hat to those working with the elderly. They are overworked, underpaid, and underappreciated. I don't have the patience. Actually I have patience for other people but not for family members.
