Great stuff, good pay good hours and benefits, more money to spend on critters, and paid time off if you get kicked by a chicken! :)

I have zero experience with dementia patients, so I'm a little nervous. My elderly family members all had full faculties until the end. Most of my friends have had reasonably brain-healthy elderly friends and family too, so this is going to be very different, very new, very much a learning experience. I'm going to do what I do, and Rock this job.
Only problem I foresee so far is I'm going to get attached. There's a non-verbal lady there who ignores everybody and everything. Doesn't make eye contact, spends all her waking hours pushing herself around in her wheelchair. She rolled herself right up to me and took my hand in the most tender, sympathetic gesture while the staff and hiring dude watched with jaws on the floor and I felt an instant connection with her . I'm gonna rock this :D

Thank you all for the congratulations and words of encouragement. I've been in "interview mode" for the last week so all of it is really just starting to sink in NOW,

Exactly. critters are why I work off-farm in the first place! A tonne of feed every month for grow-outs (not just birds, now cows and pigs too) won't buy itself :D
So, tomorrow (well, today, technically) I go shopping for new uniforms. *spits* At least this time, I have some choice. I can pick colour and texture and cloth. I don't have to worry about the colour of my pantyhose or socks, how I cut or colour my hair or what colour and shape my ponytail ring is. It's about comfort and cleanliness, and not about being a cog in a wheel or what customers might think of my tattoos. I don't have to worry about loose stuff getting caught in deadly machines. I can wear my wedding ring again for the first time in 15 years. Poop, hopefully I won't be bored to tears :D but I doubt it!

If you have a Giant Tiger in your area, I have found them the best price for scrubs, with a decent selection.

Wait for me! Wait for me! I'm just getting here but yaaaaay for you!!! Lol, ya you go girl (like the cool kids say). Once upon a time, many many years ago when I was a kid from the country, my first job was at Timmy's, oh the horror, the horror, but I survived and I'm much better now, yes much better n...n..now, so I "understand" hahaha. Anyway good luck ! :-)
