ya kinda, Very Yummy indeed! the bird in the painting is heavily stuffed... we're gluten free and didnt stuff the bird at all. This was also the first turkey that I butchered myself without Lizzies help so I really did butcher it a bit, HAHA I called Ross for advice (thanks man!). my guys legs look much thicker and seem to be a bit different, maybe its just how they were tied, I dont know. hmm I'll have to revisit this with another comparison after xmas except that bird will be well under a year old.

Hmm. Rockwell didn't do a lot of livestock, clotheson OR off. Al's guy is fairly representative of heritage turkeys that I've seen, though his had a short thick front and beautiful thick drumsticks, and mine have tended to be long, deep and thin. We generally don't stuff either, but when we do, stuffing is made from hashbrowns. Seasoned diced fried Potato. So yummy!

Rockwell always does true to life though so I'm sure the Turkey did look like the painting. I remember someone on here showing pictures of cows going way back ,huge bodies with short legs but still very tall. I had seen paintings of cattle that looked like that and always thought the artist wasn't very good, who knew that's what they did look like.

They have rice mixtures etc . Very different . I've had a few not that we have a gluten problem but when you go to someone's house who has you eat what they prepare & some folks also just don't like reg bread stuffings so use alternatives . I've had one from a friends mother , not sure what all was in it but did have raisens , peas , wild rice etc . Very good . Luck

I'm making Al his precious stuffing this year lol. I've been saving leftover biscuits in the freezer for well over a month! I won't eat the stuff but Al and the kids will polish it off I'm sure. ;)
