Diligently follow the path of two swords as one. Percieve that which the eye cannot see. Seek the truth in all things. Do not engage in useless activity.

Dealing with stress

Skinny rooster wrote:QR_BBPOST Honestly this site is one of them, it's one of my escapes when the other stuff gets to be too much. Chickens were another release valve but they became part of the problem and that's why I let them go. Things got a little better for me so I may add to the three I have. Another thing is I visit friends for a coffee or tea and chat like people used to do, or I invite them here. If there is something I would like to go see like a fair, show etc, I make the effort to go. This time of year can be the worst for people, I hope everyone knows that. Also it can get really stressful when you are trying to write a thoughtful post and spell check keeps changing what I'm trying to say, grrrrr!

I don't think anyone will see that guy in a bad light if he is ill, I think people were upset because they felt someone was trying to pull a scam off against new poultry enthusiasts.

Another form of mental illness is Alzheimer's disease, not only for the person who has it but for the family around them, the stress can be unbearable at times.
My father passed almost 3 years ago after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. Living through that illness with him changed me forever. He had lived to work, hunt and fish. All of his friends had been accumulated through the years from those 3 activities. When they were gone so were those friends... I felt a great deal of bitterness about that for some time but came to understand that dementia (just as mental illness) can be a very uncomfortable condition to witness and participate in. To me my dad was always still dad...just different. Helping him to live with dignity and joy made me review my life and the path I was on. I quit a 27 year career with the same company because it had taken over my life and I felt... no I knew... that it was making me ill. I live on substantially less money now but wake up each morning feeling happy to see another day and I make sure to enjoy small things... Life is the little things that happen between the big things.

Dealing with stress

Stress, hmmm. Sometimes it's a motivator, keeps me on my toes, and sometimes it's a consumer. But my home has always been my escape, my regrouping, my de-stress and my sanctuary. Second to that was music. I love music.

I don't drink or smoke anything. I avoid substances like the plague as I have a huge fear of becoming everything I hated growing up, once I was moved from the farm. I've never met a happy, well balanced substance abuser. It's Not for me. However, I have seen and been through enough poop in my life that I warrant a live-in therapist. I have done my time on the couch and have come quite the ways and learned many coping skills and like previously mentioned in another post, toxic people are put aside, regardless of their status in my life. If you're family, it's not a free pass to be an asshole and treat me or my children like crap. If this happens your scratched off the list and are null and void in my life. I wasn't always able to do that and sometimes you need an outside source to tell you it's ok, that you matter.

Most recently they have turned the IWT's on. This is causing a lot of grief. The noise is like jets are in the distance 24/7. My ears pop and stay plugged most of the day, you know like a really really bad cold where you hear things internally? Put your fingers in your ears and talk. That's my new day coupled with a stiff neck, headaches ALL FRIGGING DAY and nausea from being light headed. The faster they spin, the harder it is to navigate stairs safely etc. Josh probably suffers the most and stays at his dad's most days now. When he is here he can't handle the headaches that kick in within an hour or so and the ear popping. So my sanctuary is now a MAJOR point of stress and I'm absolutely devastated. I'm not sure how to cope, or deal with this without sending a bomb into the turbines. I can sit in my living room and watch them spin and spin and because hey are so frigging close to my house. I get to watch them AND I get to listen to them. The noise ricochets off the house, so I also get the noise in the house and get to hear it twice when outside. Can you say house for sale in the spring? I can but not without dropping the f-bomb every other word !!

The bunny lost his balance 2 days after turbines turned on. I thought he had an inner ear issue. Took him to the vet. Nothing wrong with his ears. He still can't walk without being drunk. I took him to Lou's and left him for a few days. He walks fine after 24 hours at Lou's. He's back here, and he's a wobbling, tipsy bunny again. Coincidence? NOT FRIGGING LIKELY!

So I'm looking for a new way to distress and so far I have been very unsuccessful. Very. I'm like a ticking time bomb and I lose my poop almost instantly because I am backed into a corner and quite simply I am livid!

This lady does not do well when she is cornered and screwed!

Today my public health unit will be hearing from me again, and every day for the rest of my existence here. The government does not have a right to just stomp on my health and affect my relationship with my children. I'm beyond fit to be tied, and when I make an appointment to go into the municipal offices they probably should have police on standby. It's going to get ugly. Talk about stress!!! Sheesh!

I'm out of here. Gotta give my ears and head a break so I have to leave my 'sanctuary' for the day. F you Wynn!!!

music, I forgot about music, very loud rock, heavy metal, punk alternative kinda music, the kind that screams at society, thats my fav kind of music. I also write and compose my own songs, back when i was depressed I wrote a lot, i havent wrote a song in 6 or 7 years now though but I love rocking out on my guitar cranked to 11. ;-)

man those turbines!!! that friggin sux Sandy! I know exactly what you mean, here at home I can see them, just an eye sore. but out at camp when the wind is really going you cant just hear them, you can feel them. you must be really close to them and i totally agree with you. but the gvmt dont care about us at all, they are in it for themselves, not sure how to win that battle. i really feel for you!

Wow that's really powerful Ross, anyone going through a family member with Alzheimer's will completely understand that.

Yikes, poor Sandy, I have been watching this garbage coming for years so I get it. I remember years ago being at a guy's place and he put in a small wind turbine for his own use. After about 30 minutes I couldn't stand it, like someone swinging something over my head constantly. I said to others after, that it must be bad to live near the large provincial turbines.

That is awful Sandy. They fought against those windmills in Thunder Bay. I'm not sure that it is all over yet though. I'm glad I that we don't live near any, from all that I have heard about them. Apparently, there is a different design to build those blades, so they don't emit that noise that causes health problems.

I like to destress with a hot bath using bath salts. I agree with Al too, music is a good destressor too. I love music. I was raised in a musical family and my husband is also talented, along with many of our friends. We really enjoy live music and is a big part of our lives. I love to relax sitting outside in the summer watching and identifying the wild birds. I now enjoy my chickens and ducks too. I loved gardening, but I am no longer able to do it, except in pots. My husband does most of the gardening now and I do the processing of the food, freezing and preserving. I love cooking and baking too. Although, this can be stressful too, as it is a lot of work, I feel satisfaction and pride with the end results.
