Oh I 100% agree with you Maximus. I once met a pug that had a dominance issue so bad that even his owner gave him a 5 foot personal space range! I've met many wonderfully trained German Sheppard's over the years and become very comfortable with them. It's that initial meeting that just makes me cautious! Good for you for changing people's minds. No breed should be declared dangerous in my opinion - individuals yes. I live with a chocolate lab and a beagle (hubby's dog that I tolerate for 51 weeks out of the year so that he can hunt with her for 1 lol) The lab was my neighbors dog that he brought home off kijiji when he was 2. They let the dog out in the morning and really had nothing to do with it until they let him back inside for supper. If you know labs at all that was not his idea of a good home so he started wandering. Wasn't long before he began appearing on my front deck every morning. At first I did the neighborly thing and chased him back home. Then I gave up on chasing. I never let him inside and I never fed him. He would wait on the deck for me to get home from work and greet me like we were old friends. It got to the point I was driving him home at night because he was barking at the front door to be let in! Finally the neighbor showed up with his bowl and leash and said "you feed him". I paid him what he had paid and Cash moved in that night. He has never gone back there to visit and doesn't wander at all. He picked me for whatever reason and is totally attached. I hadn't had a dog as an adult and can't say that when Cash passes on I would get another one because he's just special. Can't imagine life without him. The beagle on the other hand....sneaky, unpredictable, waaaaay too smart in an evil way and will NOT take discipline well. She gets even lol.

We had a similar thing with a neighbours beagle. They ignored him once they had a baby. He came round to us and we ended up walking him for them. Guy said may as well keep him he thinks he's yours but before we could he was hit on the road poor chap.

Awww that's so sad @Killerbunny. It's so special when they pick you. I always wondered if I reminded Cash of his first owner. He was obviously with someone who loved him and spent time training him. He's my helper. Wants involved in everything. He brings the paper in from end of driveway, carries mail in from the mailbox, helps carry the blue boxes out on garbage night...even helps carry groceries in lol. I'm careful with that one since a bag of mushrooms wound up all over the front yard! Apparantly he feels fungus is a dangerous thing.
I've known a few nice beagles but won't rush to get another after living with this one. She has eaten 4 raw chicken breasts off the counter, a pkg of Montreal smoked meat, chicken food anytime I turn my back, cat food anytime I turn my back, the rug in front of the front door and 1/4 of a shower curtain...literally ate it. Grrrrrrr

i had a beagle (Princess); I called her a nasty beagle as she came from a line of deer hunters with no breeding for disposition. She was great with the family but strangers didn't get close.
When I started my life with Carla (we first moved to the farm right before getting married), Princess was jealous, and twice she peed on Carla's side of the bed.
Princess was the first of the "Royal" names. Then came Duchess and Baron (both Dobermans) with Merlin and Jester (both pugs). ( non- royal names were Fred, Hobbes and Molly.)
Next likely names are Duke and Empress, but Prince and Earl seem a little strange for dog names.

Since I don't have any ducks or chickens to talk about
Ava is six months old now. Where has time gone? She is such a smart girl! And boy does she have energy to spare!
You can walk her 10 minutes or 5km's and she's still just as ready to play ball.
Drake is done with Ava shenanigans. He has retired from raising this pup :).
They still play and rough house but he's made it clear that she needs to sleep on her own bed now because she's a big girl. She's pretty bossy with him, has all females usually are in the canine world and true to Drakes laid back style he just takes it all in stride and carries on.
She is my shadow. Where I am she is, no matter what I'm doing.
She is free outside and respects her boundaries. We don't see or even hear any coyotes in the last few weeks. In fact the deer have returned to our property. That's a good indication that the coyotes/coy-wolves have moved on.
She loves everyone. And I was sort of hoping that she would have some of those GSD instincts but she is so playful and friendly. Then last week the project mgr showed up from the wind turbines. Well. She has her instincts intact! Funny how that is ...if I could growl and show my teeth like she did I definitely would with these turds! But I chose to behave lol!
Then she was at the groomers and will go and greet all the dogs. (My friends grooming business) and one dog she wouldn't go near. Turns out this dog is a biter and real bad fear and behaviour problems.
So she has her instincts and is very well balanced! Inam very pleased with her development so far.
She can still be neurotic about things out of place at home, but her reaction is less and less and as soon as she gives me the WTH is that look we deal with it immediately.
She's about 65 or so lbs. somewhere in there. And beautiful!!
And my boy drake living the good life

Thank you @Happy. I pride myself in doing well in all I do and that includes being a pack leader.
People always say if they came back as a dog in their next life, they'd want an owner like myself.
I live to love!
