Predator control question.

Post by Skinny rooster » Tue Nov 08, 2016 5:29 pm

In a lot of poultry magazines, they advertise these things that flash at night, reassembling a pair of eyes. It's supposed to scare away night time predators. Has anyone ever tried this? Tell us if it worked or not. I feel the animals would get used to it and come back when hungry.

Flashing red Xmas led lites seem to work in barn . Cheaper than ones your talking about . 3 yrs ago we had a heavy snow winter & the deer were coming out of bush at night & eating cedar hedge trees etc round here . I installed red flashing solar lane lights in front of my 12' cedars & stopped them in their tracks . Neighbor cross the road had hers all eatin as far up as they could reach . She had no lites . Bought a couple more of these this year at Home-hardware.

Wish this came up last year, when the deer were stripping my hedges!

Ross do yours work well? I bought one last year for the end of the lane and it barely lights up.

Kenya I've had to replace a few there is a battery in them may need replaced . Yes lite is bright , biggest problem is lack of sun lite . I lean my to the south so get full sunlight . Nothing is 100% but all together help , cept maybe 24/7 armed guards .

I had a short tailed weasel and it could run right through one inch square wire, after that I always buy 3/4 or 1/2 wire. They are like a hotdog wiener with legs but kill like the big boys. Good catch Ross. I could never catch the one here, I even had a trapper set his weasel traps.
