I was wondering about LED. Dose it have the same effect? I was wondering if it has the right spectrum to nudge the hormones along. Anyone know for sure?

The LEDs come in "daylight" and "soft white"... And of course the stupid expensive grow light versions...not sure about the actual light spectrum though...

LEDs are fine, or they worked fine when I used them, but fluorescent tubes work better than LEDs... it's not the light perceived by the eye that matters, It's what's absorbed by skin...even a blind hen relies on daylight ( or equivalent) to lay eggs, and even a hen with no eyes will lay eggs if she gets enough light on top of her head.

ANd apparently black hens require more light than others.
