Fast & Absolutely Furious?

Post by Maximus » Mon Oct 17, 2016 8:59 am

Ok, ready for this? I heard this on CBC radio. This guy is a complete doink if I ever heard one speak.

Builder. 35 story Condo building. 120 units.

The above tells me a lot of people are involved in the process from beginning to end. Engineering. Building permits CITY. Builder. Home buyers. Contractors.

NONE. NOT ONE. Noticed that they 'forgot' to add bathrooms to the units? No bathrooms. Nope. None. No drawings, blue prints or plans showed any with a bathroom. None. And nobody caught this. Astounding to me.

On the radio he said, those that bought a 2 bedroom unit can always change it into a bathroom. Umm plumbing running on the outside of the building? It's a bit of a late 'addition' wouldn't you say?

You can convert a closet is another one of his exuberant suggestions.

Starbucks is across the road and as he says 'they have very nice clean bathrooms'. I'm sure Starbucks appreciated that plug.

He has also pointed out several times that he has 'the expensive' portable toilets in the underground garage AT HIS EXPENSE that he isn't obligated to cover. Wow. Just.

We build customs homes. I can not for the life of me fathom how they got occupancy via the city inspectors without a single toilet to flush or to be seen. I'm thinking heads should be rolling and jobs will or should be lost. Class action lawsuit has been filed. NO BRAINER.

Another sign of life seriously speeding in the fast lane!!!

You know "this is that" is a comedy skit right???
To be fair I listened to it for a while before it hit home, the one I listened to was on purchasing pets out of dispenser machine!
It's very well done and I think sign of our time that any idiocy may or may not be a joke . ;)

Not so fast. A friend of ours was having a house built near Orillia. Not a subdivision, a modest custom home. They have pick up trucks and had specified a large garage with measurements. He turned up on sit to find foundations in for attached garage that was too short to fit pick ups in. The builder refused to do anything about it. On contacting the lawyer they found that a garage deviancy is considered "not of the essence" under contract law and he could do nothing as a compact would still fit. Several things are catches like that e.g. mirroring the plans. Even though the light may not be what you wanted you are still bound by the contract.

If they gave measurements, what measurements did they use?

My friends had a custom house built on beautiful land they bought. They sort of arrive In a 'kit' so to speak.
They went to Florida to visit family and to not be around to micro-manage and drive everyone nuts.

Got back from Florida all excited and ready to move in. Stood in the drive way in shock. Wrong house. What a mess!!!

I board drywall occasionally in new homes. the garage never has the same inspection standard if any at all as the house. whenever were waiting for inspections we can always do the garage... go figure cuz I cant. I think it should have the same standards as the rest of the house. maybe its just the insulation inspection I dont know but i could never get over that.

ya i read that article twice before I caught on to the satire part of it... LOL

old neighbor (construction framer) finished his attached garage with drywall inside and 0 insulation. "built for sale" and it's cheaper.
