The New Year: what'll ya do different?

Post by baronrenfrew » Wed Dec 30, 2015 4:02 am

:Shark: are you one step ahead of the shark?

A new year: you haven't messed it up yet, might as well start off on the right foot!

I am gonna keep less chickens, and start gardening. Coccidiosis messed me up, and I need to rethink my management system: gonna build some moveable coops. It was weird: no bloody poop; they were skinny and took a long time to mature. I got a barn to rebuild and a barn yard to convert to bird fencing (Al you show off with your Fort Coop.) I am building Schloss Huhn (chicken castle) with automated machine guns in the towers. No coyote or raccoon gonna eat here.

What's for your new year?

I'm going to try to resist on hatching as many birds as last year! Hoping to hatch around 550+ and hoping that they turn out to be great birds. I'm going to do some renovating on the old cages I have and build some more new ones. Really hoping to raise some nice birds this coming year :smilewithrooster: :hands: :fingersx:

Holy poop!! I'm stressing kahonas over a dozen hatching eggs I'm considering for my silkies that hopefully go broody. I can't imagine that many chickens. I'm scared ... How many did you hatch this year?

I repeat I am NOT going to incubate this year, just leave it to my broodies (you heard that ladies - no pressure)! Well maybe a few turkeys, and if Nearly lays again, maybe......

2016 will be about growing more food and maybe finishing the flooring in the house! Whoo no more plywood!

I saw a designer once sand the plywood, stain and varnish it. It looked great!

Ha ha. Yeah our high traffic zones are pretty shiny from a few years of wear, so I bet it could be beautiful. But when little imperfections catch and hold every single piece of dog hair.....aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrggghhh!!!

baronrenfrew, this sounds suspiciously like a New Years resolution in disguise? ;)
