Don't chew gum!!!

Post by Skinny rooster » Tue Dec 29, 2015 12:07 pm

Eeeeeeyyyuck! Did anyone see the program on TVO last night about chewing gum? What do you think gum is made of? I had heard it was some kind of rubber plant and maybe seaweed mixed with sugar and flavors etc. Brace yourself, it is made out of oil, as in oil from the ground, as in motor oil. They follow a similar process to making plastic, only they tweak it to make gum. Yuck! Even worse, the protests over sweetening gum with aspartame is because when we swallow the juice, our stomach turns aspartame into formaldehyde and wood alcohol, mmmmm formaldehyde and poisonous alcohol, yum, yum, yummy. Think I will go back to chewing my lead pencil, at least they are honest about poisoning us.

hahaha I did that to Ross... but it was from the bush, i guess I have no idea what it was. addicting though LOL. I did grow up in Petrolia, the founding place in the world to figure out how to get it, refine it and sell it... Canada and the world could be a different place if none of that happened.

Tom try finding gum without aspartame.... i quite chewing gum many years ago because of this. I remember being wasted after the bar closed checking every package of gum in 7 11 while ranting on n on about it... I bought a bag of fritos and filled it up with chili, cheese, all the fixins n grabbed a fork n hobbled my way home HAHAHAHA.

nope no gum for me!

Not a gum chewer, I agree with Ross- it does make one look very Bovine. Glad to hear that I don't now, I did catch a bit of the show.
I remember getting sent to the Principal's office in grade school because I gave a fellow classmate a piece of eraser and told her it was gum.
Anyone heard of Boyan Slat? http://www.theoceancleanup.com/

I am a gum chewer and frankly don't care what it's made of. It's a transferance addiction. I grew up on North Carolna with a wad of chewing tobbaco in my mouth. I switched to snuff as a teenager and kept dip in my mouth until I came to Canada and saw the prices. NO WAY! so I switched to nicorette for 4 years and then to peppermint gum. After a half century of chewing tobbaco and snuff, I think chewing gum is just fine!

the BEST gum - keep in mind it is NOT the best gum if you have braces - is to break off a ball of pine sap from a pine tree. you want sticky, sweet and cures your sore throat in a minute. but warning-it will require a visit to the orthodonist to glue the brackets for your braces back on. the best part about that gum is it's all natural! literally plain old pine sap.

Lots of food stuffs are made out of petroleum products. Pretty gross, but sometimes the natural alternatives can be worse...for instance with red/pink/purple colour, the two main options are petroleum product or crushed bugs. Personally I'm OK with either bug guts OR gasoline but I think most people would prefer to go "lalala" with their fingers stuck in their ears lol

Can I just say how much I appreciate the total randomness of some of these posts. Makes me feel like I have company hahah!!

Btw- not a gum chewer! Not for ingredient reasons, but because chewing something long term is not appealing to me.
