Its International Coffee Day

Y'all have surprised me a little. I expected to hear all about the baileys or kalhua coffee mixes. Very interesting. My grandmother from up north used to have a shot of whiskey after dinner in some flowery 'tea' from the garden. She would boil up some flower petals or buds and strain it into her whisky waiting mug. Religiously.

Actually McD's coffee is pretty good too. I always say if you drink Tim Hortons coffee you're not a true coffee drinker. That stuff doesn't even taste like coffee. Mind you, it's been about 15 or more years since I've had one of their coffee's.

Starbucks has a blonde blend I like, but gotta have it black. But that's about it for their coffees.

In desperation McDs works not bad. Some Starbucks is OK but way overpriced. Timmies used to be OK in the North Country and then something happened, haven't been able to drink the stuff for years, gives me an acidy feeling stomach.

Me too KB!!! I get pure gut rot from Timmies. Something for sure has changed, it's not the same and it leaves a horrible after taste in your mouth.....well in mine anyways.

I had to quit drinking coffee when it started affecting my heart. Drank it all through university with no problem but now if i drink any coffee-even decaf-my heart races over 200 beats per minute and my blood pressure goes sky high. Ironically i just saw in the news a few weeks ago that a very small percentage of people have this issue with coffee....lol. so i havent had coffee in over 15 years now.

I delivered pizza a lifetime ago (1993-94) and we got a 10pm coffee at drive thru. Then they put a sign up about prices rising and frost in Brazil and they raised their price $.10 per cup. A week later the "taste" of the coffee changed as they went down a notch in quality. Since then its down a few more notches I'm sure.

And Tom, I buy "fair trade" coffee whenever I can.

Kathy...and to think kids nowadays drink Red Bull and vodka :coffeeee: :barf:

Every one in the city nearly has a cow when they find out I drink tea, they say it's for grannies, but it's part of my country culture, everyone around here drank tea at some point during the day. I usually have one cup of coffee in the morning but it's the instant stuff. I'm not a big coffee drinker, I used to love Tim's but I agree, something has changed, like they added water to stale coffee. I don't know if it's because Americans bought it out and they are thinking profit before quality or my taster is not working anymore. I usually never have a second cup, one is enough for the day.

I limit myself to one pot per day. Fresh ground, fair trade, dark roast done in a French press. Black with no sugar. Once in a while I will whip up a batch of iced coffee in the summer with maple syrup and fresh, raw cream. On the road if I didn't bring my own a mocha flavoured can of monster, not cause it tastes good, but cause it works :) I also snack on coffee beans.
