New Additions!!!
New Additions!!!
Well I made a little road trip south today to Pickering, left my place shortly brfore 7 am, stopped along the way to meet up with PTO member Grant Calberry, he bought my Econoheater, good to meet you Grant.
Arrived in Pickering at around 10:30 am to meet up with Jim Crosby to pick up my birds. Had a good chat with Jim, seems to be a great guy, and looking forward to getting some more birds from him in the future.
Loaded up my new birds, a pair of Blue Scale Quail and a trio of Light Bramha chickens, and headed for home.
I thought my 1.5 year old Bielefelder chickens were big, these bramhas are 7 months old and huge.
Long day, I will post some photos tomorrow.

Re: New Additions!!!
Jim... Dude we must have an intervention.. Your addiction is out of control... How many types of birds have you got now? 14? From 0 three years ago... You'll have to host the meetings... "hi I'm Jim and I'm a birdaholic."
jim we gotta figure out how you can call this a business and make it tax deductable.. Just think Jim.. $.45 per km no receipts... Every purchase a write off.. A business trip to Florida to go to a "workshop"; hydro, cell phone, internet, water, property taxes...all a write off!
Then the chicken math might work!

Ha ha fun Bert, but kind of true. lol
For types of birds, no way 14.... BC Marans, Cream Legbars, Bielefelders, Light Brahmas, Chanteclers, Mottled Houdans, Delawares, Serama Bantams, BSW Turkeys, Artisan Gold Turkeys, Valley Quail, Blue Scaled Quail, Corturnix Quail, Chukar Partridge and Giunea Fowl..... crap 15 types, but they are mine and my 2 daughters, so only 5 types per person. lol
Some kind of tax write off would be great!!
I actually have a well thought out plan (as I laugh and type) I want to add a few more hens of the breeds I currently have and raise up some back up roos, but no plans for any new chicken breeds for 2016, except maybe a few leghorn hens for white eggs.
If I get any new species of birds in 2016 I would like to add 1 type of exotic pheasant, considering Temminck's tragopan, Satyr Tragopan, Grey Peacock pheasant, Impeyan or Chilean Tinamou (not a pheasant, cool bird that lays purple eggs).

Can't wait for pics! Ooh, peacock pheasants! I came across a gorgeous trio several months ago, only 250$. If I had had the cash I would likely have bought them :smilewithrooster: Because I absolutely need more birds

For the Property Tax rebate this is true.
Any business that has a reasonable expectation of a profit can have write offs. Just be reasonable and don't get greedy or you will get a visit from the CRA. (I'm not an accountant so check this out).
This assumes that you can make a profit with Poultry. Most don't, but some can.
