I Love it Ross! That has always been my way of thinking and I can remember giving that as an answer in public school when it wasnt one of the options. and i argued that as well.

Well she's a blowin and goin out there this morn. my rule: the first two storms of the season I cancel my day and stay home; my mother always said "don't go lookin fer trouble as enough will find you as it is." after that I'll drive as I need to as the job still has to get done. then I'll find an empty parking lot and learn how to drive in the snow again.

my parents always told me to broom the floor and close the lights. dad's from Germany and mom's a french girl from Quebec. fermer les lumieres = close the lights. (i was 15 when I learned it was "turn off" the lights.) balai le plancher = broom the floor (sweep the floor? who made that up?)

what incorrect English do you use?

Does pronouncing count as incorrect English??
My pronounciation of the word I'm sure is what off, but all I heard from my great grand mother was поїсти поїсти поїсти !!! Eat up, eat up, eat up.
I say it here at dinner time and I'm sure she cringes every time with my accent or lack of LOL!!

I agree baronrenfrew the winter storms seems to be nastier and usually a mix of everything. Now that's it's melting and raining it's heavy as heck.

Hubby blew a water pump on his main plow truck with the highway salter on it so he had to come back for the smaller truck and call up some plowing friends to help him with any salting. Always sumpin as my Gram used to say...........

Is that German Sandy? поїсти поїсти поїсти

My great Grandmother was German and she used to say something similar and shake her pointer finger while she said it, LOL. Never knew what it meant??

woke up like a shot in the middle of the night thinking the house was falling down-first winter with a metal roof....it was ice sliding off the roof with the rain starting up. the whole house was shaking with HUGE sheets sliding off! i was looking out the one window watching it fall down the barn roof and a huge slab off the house crashed down right in front of the window i was looking out of and smashed on the ground. glad all the cats were in last night. everyone is upright this morning-and we didn't lose the power!...the horses are SOAKED, but did figure out that the barn was open, at least one of them was in there given the mucking out i had to do this morning. i'm glad they figured it out. nice and warm out now. it's almost all gone. was a skating rink going to the barn this morning though! will be letting the birds out to play, maybe they'll eat what's left on the ground LOL. they go nuts for snow...and they sure weren't happy being in all day yesterday (i was for their own good though...even if they don't appreciate it!). Today i'm going to NAP. i definitely got up on the "wrong" side of the bed this morning....after sleeping maybe 3 hours last night. time to finish breakfast and go back to bed and start over LOL the wind has gone down a lot, and we have a ton of ducks flying, so i might send the hubby duck hunting....

yes german is essen essen! usually with at least one exclamation mark LOL

It's snowy and white and blowing like crazy, and first thing I remembered this morning, before I opened my eyes was darn, I forgot to roll up the green fences.
Opened my eyes, and realized it was way too late. ;(
Hubby is doing the barn chores and I will be starting on the clean up of the Christmas detritus inside.
Best part of this day, there is plenty of lovely leftovers, we are good until end of the week, by that time everybody should have remembered how to drive in the winter conditions.
The worst part, friend is leaving from Ottawa today (or was planning to) to return to California.
Last year it took him 3 days to get home, I think he will be matching that record this year.
Stay safe and preferably inside, if you are in Eastern Ontario
