Me too...not interested in prizes at all, or bragging rights, just the prospect of having the opinions of an experienced evaluator, without the cacophonous turdstorm that is a physical poultry show. I want to have a better idea of what to work on.
A rule I would suggest is no photo 'effects' or editing--no messing with contrast, etc., or retouching.
P.S. OC, you're brilliant. I've followed an online (FB) show before, and it was a turdstorm too.. but this could actually work and be fun, at least work as well as birds can be judged by a 2-D image.

Thanks, Troy, OC and Admin - this sounds like a fun and educational thing, not just for participants, but for those who just want to learn about what constitutes good type, etc.
A suggestion: Would it be helpful for judging if side, front, top, and feather detail photo views were submitted in order to somewhat simulate 3-D?

I would like to stick to one "profile" picture of the whole bird for now, if Troy is happy with that. It would be a bit too ambitious to have too many pictures per entry.
Keep in mind Troy isn't getting paid for his time, lets keep it simple. :)

Let me think on this over the weekend.. have the fair to look after that is taking much of my time currently.. my thoughts so far ( not sure this can be done as I am no computer wiz...??) have the entries submitted to the secretary ( one per person) .. have them posted on a thread all at the same time.. let me know by private message that they are ready to be accessed... with that..levels the playing field .... I think it should remain a show... I will pass comments on the birds good bad or indifferent.. with back up from the standards ( APA & ABA) ... will pick a champion and reserve out of the total entries.. Like I say will think a bit more on it over the weekend..

That can be done, no problem.
Due to # of pictures limitation I suggest we make a category for this where only secretary has access to while submissions come in. They can create one post per entry with all pictures of that bird. The topic subject is the show number. We can sort by numbers, not dates.
When judging time comes around Troy will get access and will be the only one posting comments.
At any point along the way we can make it visible to the rest of us (just not before Troy can see them).
We can make one topic inside that category where ALL communication/question/clarification is to be posted that is not locked. From my end I would like to see those questions from the participants to Troy be asked publicly (not pm or email) to help the educational portion, and it will reduce his time by not having to answer the same questions for the same birds over and over again.
I can furnish KB and OC with the necessary permissions and a test area to learn the system without affecting anything.
People who would like to participate will need to consent that they understand that this is NOT a cute pet contest, but a show.
My thought for that is using a form like we did for the piknik. We can make a new one pretty quickly and that can help OC collecting the potential participants list.

If anyone else has any thoughts/improvements/experiences with these online shows, I am eager to hear them. PM is welcome if you don't feel comfortable posting here. My main goal is to find out as much as possible how to hold them so we can make it right for the participants and most importantly for Troy. My gut feel is we have one shot to get it right. If we do, we might be able to entice other judges in the future, if we get it wrong, we might lose the one we have... So I think getting it right is more important than getting it up quick.

I think that sounds good Martin. We need to give Troy all the time he needs as OPB show etc coming up very soon - yikes! As you say we don't need to rush things but we do need to get it right.
