Hinges
Some times I can find hinges at the ReStore, but if I can't I make my own with screw in Eyes and a bolt. Has the advantage of being able to take the door off easily.

Re: Hinges
LOL i have done the hook and eye thing like al, and i've done this too, with a shorter bolt, so i can put a nut on it and just use the top eyelet, not the bottom.... amazing how necessity can help invent things huh? LOVE it!

Re: Hinges
I haven't thought to use his method to fabricate a hinge, but its clever...however i used this idea horizontally to tie together the numerous panels of the run for the girls...one eye bolt on each panel, a hex bolt thru the two and a nut...allows for uneven turf and can pull the panels together nicely...

Re: Hinges
You guys are smarter than I, I just rave and rant at the price of hinges, and buy 2$ boxes of random hardware at farm and estate auctions...usually gets me 5 things I want and 100 things to go for scrap! Now that you've shown me the eye-and-bolt and the hook thing, only 50 things will go to scrap lol! Awesome!

I thought that this was a novel idea. With the variations that have come to light; I was only the first one to post. Now I have more configurations to use for Eyes.

Re: Hinges
Cost effective! It beats waiting at the township dump for stuff.
Quick story: i used my dad's subaru with dark tinted back windows to drop off a bunch of garbage bags full of paper (last time we had puppies). Dump guy wanted to charge me $2 per bag (woulda been $30) i insisted He put me on the scale. When I drove backover (after filling the back seat with rescued items) total price $0.75 ?! If I woulda picked up anything else, he would have owed me money!
