Good Morning!

:morning:

Looks like you have a lot of work ahead of you Sandy!!! Nothing better than canning your own.

We have some pears on our trees but not enough to do much with other than for eating and sharing a few with family. I had planted 10 apple trees some 20 years ago, dwarf variety, supposed to be good producers. Well they were not, years of pruning and caring for these trees, NOTHING. Well not enough to even make a pot of applesauce. Last Fall hubby says the trees have to go, lots a work from nothing. So I said OK take all out but 2, well I have two trees that are LOADED with apples, more apples from 2 trees than I have had from 10 trees in 20 years.

I think they figured they better produce or they were going to get pulled out too!!! :big chicken: They are a green cooking apple so I will have lots to freeze for the winter for pies, crisps and sauce :lunch:

Everyone have a wonderful long weekend!!!

Can we get a recipe for peach crisp please?
Yes I've done this surgery before but I hate the amount it bleeds, very scary. I should also remember to wear safety glasses because I got hit in the face with a lump of pus and blood clot yuck! Second girl doing well this am, on the roost. Will take the dressing off later.

Bumblefoot ahouldnt bleed THAT much!! Just try opening a foot abscess in a clydesdale lol. One under a lot of pressure....
Last night was checking the new grow out girls and one was just blood all down the back-4 pulled blood feathers in her tail! And she had been pecked too. So got her into her own pen and got the bleeding stopped...poor thing. Hopefully she will be okay. Still alive and ticked about being alone this morning....will check on her again soon.

Gorgeous night for sleeping! Love having warm blankets and a cold nose lol. Barn fan replacement should be in today yay!

Dont forget to vote for our tie breaker in the photo contest!!

Harvested some gorgeous butternuts and acorn squash yesterday. My carrots were being eaten so i pulled them too-must be a bunny in the garden somewhere. Lettuce is gone...parsley will get harvested later today. Carrots are respectable...a little small but will give me a few dinners worth. Final onion count of 300+ planted is 2. Awesome.
Have a great day everyone!!!

Have finished repairing the 2 broken fences and disassembling the run in shed roof structure that blew through said fences. Now to disassemble the coverall frame and figure out what to do about the half tree that is hung up over my '75 Beetle project.

Picked up 2 x 2016 Buff Toulouse geese last night. Beautiful and calm birds. Will be looking for a nice gander for next spring. Also have 8 Magpies coming from eastern Ontario on Monday! Again, I will be looking for the best drake I can find for next spring..... maybe Mount Forest?

Hope everyone has a great long weekend!
Cheers,
Dean

Waupooscowgirl: how did you do with your cattle? You were talking of selling some due to drought (lack of pasture)?

These are the girls that had leg issues from the dog attack. Seemed to progress very fast in the second one and inflamed up the leg in 24 hrs, yikes. Much digging to get it all out, very uncomplaining even when we hit bone. Think she must have been in a lot of pain but hiding it. She's out and about today though.

You are a brave soul KB
Beautiful morning here, brought cukes and lettuce to the pens of young birds and observed behavior, 2 pullets having an all out "cock fight", cockerel eases himself in between them gets hit for his troubles, but just pulls his head back patiently waiting until the pullets cool off, got to love Wyandottes, I took note of his comb (the only way I can tell who is who) his colors look right, so I think he may be my keeper.
Like Kathy I like cozy blanket and my nose cold at night, love September, always have, it's my B-day/wed.Anniversary month and the combination of harvest time perfect weather and Carp Fair makes it a supper month for me, and just in case you are wondering ;) my combined B-day and Anniv. present? New brakes all around on my 4Runner to the tune of $ 2600, wasn't exactly in the budget.
But it looks like there is 6 ACTUAL Columbian Wyandotte pullets in my grow pen, can't think of a better present. :)
