Storm threat ignites powerful and damaging reported tornado
the sky was really weird tonight right around the same time and after these tornados were going on... kids were even wondering why the sky was yellow... we are north east of windsor, not sure how far maybe an hours drive? there were no warnings I could find and by the time I had figured out there were tornados on the ground that same storm was above us and raining hard. we were just on the edge of it though as far as I could tell.
I check Ontario Tornado Watch regularly even though im not on fb its still fully open to the public I just cant see the videos.
I think its kinda crazy... tornado warnings south of the border for the same storm that produced tornados there and Environment Canada didnt issue a tornado watch or warning until after the fact. but OTW issued one and warned a lot of ppl before it touched down. IDK I think its better to issue a warning and be wrong rather than not issue one and ppl get hurt...

check out this CBC news article... pretty much says what I said above except EC says there were no tornados in Michigan and that why they didnt issue one... they are right... the same storm had tornado warnings in Ohio, not sure if it produced any there though.
edit... Indiana and Ohio both had tornados from the same system that moved into Windsor...

if you don't already subscribe to ontario tornado watch. they sent out warnings on facebook and texting a good 10 minutes prior to the tornado(s). i get them through facebook. my weather radio never went off last night at all, and when that cell got to my place it still wasn't pleasant-no tornados but a few good gusts and buckets of rain....

They said on the CTV news earlier today, that people should be aware and to take cover, as they are not always able to predict this kind of weather before it happens. These are not their exact words. All I know is I don't totally rely on their weather forecasts or wait for their warnings, as so many times I can forecast storms before they do. There has been times I have become , so anxious and upset wondering why haven't they issued a warning yet. I have thought too, where is the ministry or emergency personal to check water levels etc. People's lives are endangered when roads give way from flooding or from tornados and then after the fact you hear all the excuses. I think it is better to issue the warnings to be safe rather than sorry.

Shortly after 7pm tornado warnings came on our tv for North Eastern Ontario. More confirmed tornados for Southern Ontario.
