Hmmm...my first instinct is to make a joke chickens...fried, roasted, or barbecued?
I am assuming the chicken conversation is with the intention of possible chicken keeper date. Which means 1. Chicken keeper 2. Single
But you do have a problem...like looking for a broody hen when she doesn't want to be found.
The place to meet chicken people: auctions, shows (the Shawville Fair has a poultry show and its Sept 1-5), that gets you close to poultry folk...
Are you a chicken keeper who is able to "process" extra roos? (You don't have to like it you just must be able to do it.) If so look amongst the hunting/fishing crowd (yep...rednecks). Or amongst the cooks, chefs, and butchers (might as well find one who can cook).
If you are a big softie and can't "do the deed", then you have a smaller group of potential men to choose from. Maybe amongst those who love other animals (men who keep dogs is a good start. Go check the "dog agility" parks. http://www.wagottawa.ca)
Or the "plant lovers" such as "Friends of the Farm" http://friendsofthefarm.ca
They have public events, plant shows, etc. might as well start in a "target rich" environment. Or how about the EOMF (Eastern Ontario Model Forest) event in March every year, at least they are landowners (you need land to keep chickens).
Our "hobby" or "passion" is a niche thing, maybe those who appreciate other niche hobbies can appreciate yours even if they don't share it.
(And much better than "niche" hobbies like collecting "star wars" figures or "pokemon".) Besides another "chicken keeper" might compete with you for space for birds.
Or maybe find a carpenter: he can build you more pens!
Good luck, I have more ideas if you want them.

You will need to look for a young man--all the older chicken lovers get snatched up pretty quick. I think there might be a couple 18 year old guys left single :/ or maybe consider the other side of the fence...or meet lots of fanciers like Bert suggested--the older guys tend to burn through wives as they love their poultry more lol, so all you have to do is wait a bit :D

Oh Tom, you don't qualify as "older"! I'd guess your age somewhere around 50-55, with the energy and intelligence of a guy 15 or 20 years younger. Or more. If I'm not close on your age, don't tell me since it was rude of me to suggest a number in the first place :) and I apologize. Age is just a number. "Older", to me, means broken down, tiredand, set in ways and forgetful. I guess that places me at about 85 LOL!

Be very careful what you wish for! My hubby adores our chickens, this means 2 of us have a problem. He doesn't like to "downsize" them which means we started with 1 coop, now have 4 main coops, 4 maternity/transition coops, a turkey coop, turkey shelter and play structures, fenced turkey paddock etc. If I'd like another few birds, no problem, he'll just build more coops! There is a snag though, he can't process or cull anything so I have to do that part, also for any injured birds beyond hope. We have kept injured chickens in the house and had our rec room and downstairs hallway full of chicks and turkey poults - you've seen the size of that room haven't you Jan? So I say again be careful what you wish for BUT good luck!

um....i probably shouldn't post this....but some guys can LEARN to LIKE chickens.....
(with a big shout out to poultry_admin here). i caught him giving shavings by hand to my one rooster the other night...um....so....if you find one that is willing to tolerate your chicken addiction, you may be able to start small (fresh eggs are good bribes) and then work from there LOL.

Have you joined a poultry club? there is one on either side of the river, most men there are into pigeons and pheasants, but I am sure their interest could be shifted a bit? Just a heads up, most of them aren't worth recycling
