Yes it is BVF. The last time I took birds to the processors was Langfields just outside of Bright. Prices have sure gone up since then.

WHAT A MORNING!!! It's beautiful out. Windows are open, fresh air, it's just awesome!!

I'm finally shaking this stupid cold (thanks JT) and it's going to be a nice cool day. I need to cut the grass. Fell down front steps twice last week, don't ask. They're just weird steps and I think I've fallen down them a dozen times in 5 years. Quite annoying, I fall up them too. Just not normally spaced steps. Anyways, huge bruise from ankle to almost knee and I'm mostly walking without a limp now, so grass is on the list today. Sister and neices from BC arrive tomorrow for a few days. So looking forward to some down time at the lake, bonfires and catching up.

Need to head to downtown today, visit police station. Need a report for a course I'm taking. Basically that I'm not on the most wanted list I suppose.

We have a processor here, Lowbanks processing, but the reviews are 50/50. So I haven't considered them. I'm interested in where FRF is. Instead of shipping off a dozen plus cockerels to the market I could of had them in the freezer. The whole processing is not my favourite and I'll avoid it when possible, like having an auction easily accessible gets me off the hook. :)

Ooooo these new Muscovy ducklings are doing soooo amazing! They are running around like its their job. And eating up a storm. They've figured out where everything is and who's the boss and who isn't. And they coop themselves each night. Can't ask for any better.

Well, I'm off. Hope everyone has a great Monday!! Cheers!

Morning all! glorious weather, yesterday and so far today! it can stay like this for a LONG while now!!!!! LOVING it!
ordered the fencing for the turkey pens! it'll be a couple weeks before it's in, so have time this coming weekend to get the lumber in...going 8 feet high :-) that way if someone wants pheasants we can do an outside habitat for them too. just saying...poultry_admin LOL
got some things done this weekend, not as much as hoped, or planned, but it's all good.
www, my pumpkins are ready too. go figure. guess i'll cook puree and freezer them soon. very early this year. LOL. squash bugs, omg everywhere! and borers took out my summers and my hubbards too. oh well. no garden next year should put a dent in the larvae....i hope! black beans are done and ready for shelling (also early). yellow and greens all have rust like mad from the last rain, bent over and done. so i'll pull them soon, and just plow them under in the fall. still have to get the herbs out. but discovered i really should cut oregano later at dusk when the honey bees are NOT in it....lol. they were angry yesterday. so i didn't get it all cut. sunflowers are at least 11 feet tall this year! and my indian corn is looking amazing! whoohoo!.
and i just discovered a source of buckets for my farm! whoohoo! my boss has a pool...and well, they don't need the buckets. so YES! weeding buckets, muck buckets, you name it buckets (just not water buckets because they've had pool tablets in them). can never have enough buckets for random things (like picking up nails from tearing down sheds) on a farm!
also need to get some sweet corn for the freezer-we ate all ours LOL.
hope everyone has a super awesome day! just found out that the place that bought my super friendly wheaten ameraucana boy had a accident with a chicken sitter/dog sitter and well, she needs another boy....sigh. he was such a sweetie....ah well. i'm hatching again for a custom and i'm sure there will be boys, so hopefully there will be another wheaten for her....sad tho. dumb dogs.

hope everyone has an awesome day!!!!! lovin this weather!!!!

Jan - selling beans and to you "overpriced", your price should be higher than grocery store, they're manure fed and not typical fertilizer; you are selling a "value added good" and not a commodity. You are selling the Mercedes of veggies, not the cheap imports.

A local ski resort, Mount Pakenham, has a small ski hill but is close to West Ottawa and is busy. They wanted to reduce the number of people in their Saturday morn ski school so they raised the prices. Attendance INCREASED as a higher price (to some people) means a higher value.

Jan, don't sell yourself short; your time is worth more.
