Good Morning!
Well... here it is... Saturday. Another HOT humid sticky ass day. Man.... doing anything at all these days has sweat literally dripping from my nose/chin/into my eyes. I hate that! The cattle do NOT like this one bit. I feel bad for them.
After bedding down the cattle... I went out and wiped fly spray all over the horses. Noticed the bot fly eggs all over the eggs. Hope that spray kills them.....I especially do their legs good, as the flys know where to bite where the skin is thin. They are such bastards, those biting damn things.
Gave the birds fresh water in the bird bath in front of the house. Noticed a wasp convention going on, walking between the slats of the barn board on the wood shed. I quickly spent ALL The wasp spray bomb I had, up and down that crevice. They just moved to another. I'm going to need more spray. Why can't these bugs just move somewhere else?
I am going to bag my beans soon... they are on cookie sheets in the freezer.... and maybe go up and pick or pull the bushes. I'm sick of them. My peppers are breaking down, with the heavy fruit. No matter how much I tie them up. Better pick some, and maybe have stuffed peppers. I already have 4 large freezer bags full of diced peppers from last year. Why I put so much down I have no idea.
I know I DO have to bury fluffy, who is STILL in my freezer, in her little coffin box. First the ground was froze. Then it was busy spring, and too wet. Then it was too dry. I think the ground is just right, lol. Sigh. Well, it may be too hot? Always some excuse. Its not something I really really really want to do anyhow. Every time I open the freezer, I greet her. I will miss that? Ya, I'm nuts.
Gary is planting oats and radish on the wheat ground. Hes also going to plant alfalfa on a couple next door. Hes already sprayed that for June grass. That stuff is everywhere. The only thing that will KILL that damn grass is planting round up ready alfalfa..... but its not really great feed for beef cows (steady diet).... and we have alot of horse customers that like the timothy/brome mixed with alfalfa.
I planted more lettuce yesterday. Picked all the big cucumbers for the hens. Lots of tomatoes up there. SHOULD do something with them, but don't want to heat up the kitchen. At all. Its humid enough in this stone house, and will continue to be, long after the weather cools down. I could make some of those cowboy Jalapeno peppers.... and then seal the jars outside. Maybe I will do that. Or make Jalapeno poppers for the freezer. No cooking required for that. I should do something!!

Good Morning!
So much for 23 C today....hm. another hot stinky one. SAI of extreme. LOL. i had never heard of the SAI until listening to the radio this week....and no, it's not really for all audiences...swamp "butt" index...extreme.
just got the flat on the trailer fixed for friends who are coming to pick it up, it's been stored here for a little bit while they got their driveway paved...no fun getting that back with a flat. and NO it wasn't one of our roofing nails, this one had been in there a LONG time with a slow leak for a while apparently. need to move hay. need to move the bale holder up to it's final spot - near but not IN the gate. also need to clean up the spilled hay where it is now. that will just go into the manure pile i think. but ran out of steam after getting the hazmat gone to dutton for hazmat day, and tire fix and feed store run. gotta go and take the bot fly knife to the horses....and get them fly sprayed AGAIN. and build a deer fly catcher. hopefully that will work. we have monster deer and horse fly things, and i saw some plans on the internet for building something that will drown them...worth the try. LOL. it'll either work, or it won't.
Got my air miles "use the miles now or they will take them all away" thing i ordered...a waffle maker....so we had waffles this morning for breakfast. yum but i don't need lunch or dinner now.
BVF my peppers are the same! i don't know what to do with all these hot peppers. going to make your pepper poppers....just washing up jars right now to jar up my homemade ketchup. the house smells amazing. i think there's about 8 liters. i might end up just randomly gifting homemade ketchup to anyone that dares drive up my driveway LOL. just waiting on the dishwasher. then it's on to harvesting mint, oregano, peppermint, savory and parsley...and hot peppers and green peppers. and the baking beans. and peas. and pumpkins. why are those done already??! guess i'll bleach them and see if they'll store in the cool in the basement.
well, tomorrow is my mom's birthday, have to put together a card and a gift (and that will include homemade ketchup-i just have remember she's only 1 person and won't need a liter of ketchup). lol.
hope everyone stays cool and has a great day!

Good Morning!
Hubby is continuing to pull up the patio so we can put drains in. We solved a mystery here. Every time we get heavy rain we get close to flooding. Digging down we discover that instead of drainable landscape fabric some genius put down impermeable vapour barrier plastic. We don't even live in Lanark county. Oh well the drainage will correct it.

Good evening.
Long day today. We are down visiting my parents in Komoka. We had a party for their 50th Wedding Anniversary today, busy all day making food, setting up the hall, serving and entertaining. Ended up a great day.
Heading back home to Eastern Ontario tomorrow.

Beans are picked and in a bucket to dry. Moved a lot of thibgs around in the house today....tired of the way it looks so we are reorganizing some. Germany lost soccer...sigh. man what a brutally boring game at times. Lol. They did get silver and nice for brazil to win on home turf. Now its raining! Yay!!

Good Morning!
bvf and wllady wish I lived closer to buy some of your pepper and bean crop! For fresh beans and peppers, I am veggie and pickle poor this year with dry wells.
I do coddle some heirloom tomato plants on the patio in pots this year for fresh eating-green zebras and black russians etc. If I don't grow, then I buy a bushel of romas and freeze those tomatoes whole as is... just in grocery bags lol and when I'm not busy and bored in mid-winter, THEN I can them for sauce-cold water drop takes off skins and then thaws them enough to core before I boil down and then run thru food-mill for seeds and skins I missed (dear hubby is fussy on seeds).
PS I used the online system for airmiles and got a great SONOS sound system-awesome sound and controllable from computer or
cell phones/tablets....thought that we had more airmiles than we did, but like you, got the email and pored over the list of stuff the miles could buy and also changed all future airmiles to cashable ones at Metro and other stores. (I had split the plan before between points and cashable)

Good Morning!
We have Dam Seeds tomato trials here this year, and there are literally millions of tomatoes out there going to waste. The trials are to see how the plants do thru-out the season... how they produce.... react to blight/drought, that kind of stuff. I will admit, I did go out last night and sneak some heirlooms. I will take a picture of them today. I do know that there is a orange cherry up there, with a number/name... that they don't sell... its absolutely divine!! Maybe they will sell that seed next year. As far as I can see, its very prolific.
I put a small ear of corn in the coon trap up there... they got most of his sweet corn trials too. The trap WAS sprung... so I unsprung it... will go up soon to check. I ended up picking a kettle full of hot jalapeno's... and made the sweet ones. They are so good on a sandwich, or a burger... with grilled cheese... yummy. Was a little disappointed... did two batches at one time, and did exactly like they said. Where I should have gotten 6 250ml jars... I got 4 500 ml jars. They were soft after cooking in the syrup... and the jars were crammed. But I remembered I packed them uncooked; I like them abit crunchy... but the jars when processed are only 1/2 full. Oh well. All will taste good thru-out the year.
I guess I will do the beans today. Took me all day to slice up all those peppers, and that was from only 4 plants. There are 9 altogether.
Well... I'd better get out and tend the livestock. Thats a never ending job. Tomorrow I have a bus workshop.... and will plan on bringing the bus home that day. Back to work soon!

Good Morning!
O man...thats not good!! I used to know the owners way back when-my aunt and uncle lived just down the road we used to get all their cat/dog food there.
Beautifully cool morning. It can stay like this. Of course now with the pressure change i am totally broken. Gah. Watched mens soccer last night on the loympics. What a frustrating game to watch!! Nice for brazil to win on home dirt though.
Putting together my moms bday gift....garden vegetables-she lives in an apartment with no garden. Some ketchup and a card....she also got a dvd player so we got her a couple dvds too. We will see if i can fix her computer today too from the phishing...doubtful but worth trying.
This morning is pen cleaning i think...maybe. and bale moving. And reflyspray the horses. Checked yesterday and found no bot eggs on them. Need to scoop the stalls and put down some stall dry. The free range boys found the open gate to the garden. Much fewer grasshoppers. Much fewer tomatoes close to the ground but thats okay. I hope this weather sticks around for a while!! Its beautiful. Have a great one everyone.
