I used to plant through plastic with my peppers...and i think bvf does still. Works....but water really well first. The plastic helps to retain moisture too. I dont anymore because pulling the plastic at the end of the year was a hassle. Now i just mulch heavily with rotting hay or straw.
Is that a rose of sharon ross?

Nice!! I noticed lots in bloom last time i travelled chatham way. 3 different coors. Seem to be enjoying the hot temps. Very nice.

Ross, I've done sheet gardening in the past for tomatoes and peppers. Works best in cooler summers. I think things might have cooked this summer if I had tried it, but it works great if you have persistent weeds. Covers them and kills them.
