Oh no, another dumped kitten

Well it's almost two years exactly since the last dumped/stray kitten.

This one is in very rough shape, I think it would have starved to death in another couple of days. Around eight weeks old, skin and bones, looks wormy with a very rough coat, tortoiseshell (female, of course). Terrified, but she's let me pet her if I'm very quiet so she's definitely not feral. I think she will be ok, she's eating well and doesn't look sick.
I really wish that all those people who have cats and don't fix them, especially farmers who have rampant barn cats and let them breed at will to keep the "mousers" around would realize the huge amount of unseen, unnoticed animal misery they are causing. Don't know or don't care, there's no excuse. Starved, run over, diseased, attacked by predators, and cats don't die easy. Fixed cats can be had very cheap from rescues, and believe me a fixed well fed cat will be a better mouser than a starved pregnant one.

Not sure why yu blame farmers for stray cats , maybe in your area but out here its the

heads from the city that bring out their "mistakes" & think theyll be just fine livin off the land and yes we've caught a few of the citiots . Even small town down the road is overrun by drop offs . Fixing is not the only solution . Since i took it into my own hands the last few years we know have less yowling , fights , our wildbirds & chippys are back & havent lost a chicken to them since .
Many wont agree but get over it thats how it is . As i told the people in London who if I catch um & bring um in they'll fix & bring um back to where i caught them . There not breeding my wild & domestic birds there eating um .

Where we used to live (Orillia) people would get a kitten for the kids at the cottage for the summer and leave it there in the fall because as Ross says they can live off the land fine. Sadly the poor things would slowly fade away.

Not sure why people point their fingers at farmers
Most the times it's us that get the city people's pets dumped off in the country for us to take in yet another helpless animal
Farmers do get their barn cats fixed
Not all I agree.
But a lot do
They also treasure their "barn cats"

Dec 2015 suddenly a young male "stray" Orange cat appeared ( "Orange Boy" )
Of course we fed him. made a hiding spot away from the cold & draft.
He would Hang out on the deck, looking for companionship.
As soon as the door opened he would flip on his back & twist around for a cuddle.
BUT our lazy, good for nothin house cat was Freakin out!!!
The hissing & fights happened daily thru the patio doors.

Put an ad in "Lost Pets" & had a call saying if no one came forward she was interested.
Really nice family came to look @ Orange Boy, & they decided to take him.
I have gotten 4 updates along with pics - happy ending.

Well a few months ago another Orange cat appeared.
Possibly the same litter? Seems same age, but much smaller & feral.
This one our cat Likes....alot! It's another male but quite timid & afraid.
Every day our cat looks for "Orange cat" & spends the day hanging out.
They lay under the trailer, the trucks, the deck & by the chicken coop.
Orange Kiisa runs in to grab a mouse daily, & the occasional baby rabbit.
If he is around he will eventually accept a small dish of milk.
Stays about 20 feet away until I leave.

Don't know where he came from, but we might let him stay.
Trying to convince hubby he is a good mouser, therefore a keeper.
Just have to figure out how to catch him for the vet.
Need him fixed, needles & healthy since he hangs with Black Kiisa.

Wish folks would either fix their cats or get a free one already fixed.
I paid to fix my cat, now gotta fix a stray.
Could have been worse, could have been a female!!! YIKES!!!

Our little Muppet was like that. Clearly a drop off before we moved here. A cuddlebutt housecat once he was fixed!

I know plenty of farmers that are delinquent and you can't tell them otherwise, but I also know city folks who have dumped. I know country folks who drown. But I will say I know more country folks that are a problem than city folks, but that's just my ratio/experience. People are as*holes.

PART of the problem, aside from impulse buys/adoptions, is vet costs. Personally, I would like to see a non-profit vet in each major city. Like a non-profit dental office (which we use) I have a vet, as*hole too and if I didn't know better he would totally have me milked. Anyways, when it comes to spaying and neutering I don't do it at the vet. I taken them to the SPCA spay neuter clinics that are a fraction of the cost.

Of course fixing your cat would help solve a lot of unwanted offspring, over population, dumping etc. Whoever doesn't think it would, really should give the numbers a good look. How many cats and dogs are euthanized each year. Shocking. Unwanted animals.

If free kittens weren't so accessible and people had to pay to get one, pay for thr spay/neuter up front I bet the amount of available kittens and pet owners would be on a deep decline. Quick.
