Traffic Stop Results in Shotgun Seized & Charges Laid
On Monday August 1, 2016 police observed a Blue Ford Escape at the intersection Upper Wellington Street and Limeridge Road in Hamilton. The vehicle proceeded through the red light, turning left onto Limeridge Road from Upper Wellington Street. Police were directly behind this vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle pulled over in the housing complex on Upper Wellington Street, where 3 males were located in the vehicle.
Police spoke with the driver about the traffic infraction when it was noticed that one of the passengers was wearing a sweater and had gloves on his lap. This appeared to be suspicious clothing to police due to the very warm weather. Police also observed what appeared to be a wig on the floor which the passenger was attempting to conceal with his feet. While being questioned, one passenger advised an officer there was a shotgun in the back seat of the car. All 3 parties were arrested at that time.
The car was searched and a shotgun was observed on the floor of the back seat directly in front of where the rear passenger was sitting. A plastic baggie with 3 shotgun shells was located in the rear driver’s door. Two plastic masks and a wig were discovered in the rear seat area and under the passenger seat.
All 3 males were transported to Mountain Station and interviewed. It was revealed this was related to an earlier unreported assault. All 3 males were arrested, charged and held for a Bail Hearing.

Question. Prohibited would be because they don't have their PAL?

Hard to say from what reading could be the the shotgun was unplugged so it could carry more than 3 shells or cut down to less 18" barrel or total length less than 26 inches . The unauthorized possesion would propably be no PAL .

Thus the reason for cops on the street an not just a bunch of cameras sending us tickets in the mail. When something suspicious catches a cops eye (and his spider senses are tingling (or Magnum's little voice)) he (or she) can follow it with asking questions, tripping people up, hearing the hesitance in their voice etc. etc. etc.
No wonder cops overreact at times: you never know what's in the next car.

Diligently follow the path of two swords as one. Percieve that which the eye cannot see. Seek the truth in all things. Do not engage in useless activity.
