Slow roast? I do fresh or thawed 15-30 lb turkey at about 425 F for 1 1/2-2 hours to brown skin and seal in juices, then about 300° for another 2 hrs to finish cooking, then (if large) leave in for another hour as oven cools. always turns out tender and juicy, but i wood cook and have to watch pretty carefully. How does a slow-cooked turkey turn out?

That looks wonderful Al!! And I bet it tasted even better!

Turkeys similar to clean?

I saw Guinea fowls I think @ Dougs yesterday. (Doug the ChickenMan) and I'd like to learn to raise and cull those. They were chatty and I've heard loud when a predator comes by but maybe 2 at a time would work. But cleaning them I'd think I'd need a lesson or two.

I offered to bring the turkey up east as my contribution to Xmas dinner. If not it would of been a utility factory raised turkey and if I was going to go in cognito with my hatred of turkey I knew my cover would be busted if there was a turkey so abused it's limb(s) were absent. So to play it cool I ordered an organic turkey and removed its identity lol. I didn't want to insult anyone,(easily done with some of the testicles in attendance) so I just removed the organic labels etc. Smoooooth sailing!

Holy frigging poop!!! $95 for a dead turkey with all its limbs. I cooked it beautifully and it basically fell off the bone ... I had a sample size piece on my plate for dinner ... GACK! Still don't like turkey. Halfway through dinner my sister drops her utensils and says 'I just remembered something. You hate turkey!' Thanks for the announcement !! LOL. My cover was blown. But there was plenty of vegetables for me to consume so Xmas dinner was great :)

Everyone said it was the best turkey they've ever had and when leftovers were packed up, people were actually asking to take some home. Jeeze !! I wish I could like turkey and join in on it but it's just not my thing.

Not sure if the cook (me) should take the compliments or the organic farmer.

I'm back. Rambling!!! Betcha didn't miss that the last few days eh?

I hear ya Sandy. : ) Glad it worked out for you.
I was just questioned by family as to why I didn't bring any chicken...... this from the people who only roast turkey breast because the other parts are "icky".
Uh hun.... smile and nod... smile and nod...
