Mysterious disappearance, predator?
I doubt you'll hear anyone on this site say that catch and release is a good idea when it comes to raccoons ... or rats ... or weasels ... or fishers ... !

Mysterious disappearance, predator?
Yeah Farrier. Keep the trap out for a few more nights because I "had" several young skunks here, likely littermates, around my coops.

I think I got mama. And will go back to my usual, lock everyone up at night. I don't like having a trap out just because.

Mysterious disappearance, predator?
EEEEEK!
So the skunk was able to get in your coop?
Or was the skunk waiting for when the flock was outside?
For the last 4 or 5 days I have smelled skunk around my coop.
The smell seems to come from "Under" my coop.
Coop was built about 1 foot above grade.
An extension of the coop is about 2 feet off the ground.
Hubby threw a bunch of wood under it, so we can't even access it.
Reading the problems you have had is making me concerned!
