Avian Influenza In Niagara

Post by modern17 » Fri Jul 08, 2016 10:42 pm

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news again.. it has been confirmed that an case of Low Path Avian Influenza has been found in a commercial duck farm in the Beamsville Ontario area ( Niagara) . Further testing is being done at this time with results expected over the weekend / Monday. There is a control zone established in a 3 KM radius of the farm. Movement of avian species from this area ( the 3 KM radius ) is prohibited at this time. Lets hope it stays that way. Please find the notifications from Feather Board Command in the attachments. OMAFRA & CFIA are advising on heightened biosecurity practices and limited movement. At this time no further restrictions are in place. I will forward anything further as it becomes available

Just a quick update... It has been confirmed at low path H5N2 , The duck flock has been depopulated and the facility is in the decomp and clean up phase. The control zone remains at 3 KM and at this time no further premises have shown positive. Lets hope it stays this way. OMAFRA & CFIA are stressing up scaled biosecurity should be in place . Will continue to bring you anything new as I get it.
