Online it says periodic cicadas spend most of their lives as underground nymphs, emerging only after 13 or 17 years. That's a LONG time for a bug to exist.

I love cicadas. To me, their song (they sing when it's hot or is going to be) means "time to go for the swimming pool!" LOL. Despite the hot weather so far this summer, I haven't seen or heard a single cicada, so I'm glad they're out there and not pulling a vanishing act this year. June bugs seem to have been in short supply, I know most people won't miss them or especially their grubs that eat grass roots, but I LIKE June bugs, they're wonderful free chicken food, and this year I saw a grand total of four little ones, and that was IT.

Like to hear the June bugs banging on the screen in door to come in . Then bouncing off/on you when outside . Ugly but cute . Luck
