I think that bear or bears is following me. the first sighting in lambton county was directly beside our camp. and the sightings keep getting closer n closer to home here. LOL my one daughter n I may have seen one off the highway one afternoon but didnt have enough time to stop, whatever we saw was not recognizable to either of us other than it was some large dark colored mamal, kinda like a squatting squatch... LOL

Cute picture at the fridge. That's one big cat! Obviously knows how to get those leftovers.

Looks like some sort of team effort, although definitely looks like the cat is getting most of the goodies ;)

well al, if it's following you and the family, you have a spirit bear :-) supposedly a good thing!
we had one a couple years ago the MNR had collared that ended up down near ridgetown somewhere, tracks were found along the riverbank in my area. pretty cool! i never saw it, but wish i had. they're amazing animals. surprisingly agile and fast for their size. but it's sure going to be a shock for folks down here that aren't used to living with bears in the area....lots of birdfeeders are going to get raided, and composters and bee hives until people figure it out! i just hope they don't shoot them for being too close to whatever building or town or whatever....

Heard one was hit by a car last night near Petrolia. Haven't seen it in the paper yet.. Maybe just a rumour?

 OMG, we have BEARS in Ontario?? Being sarcastic here lol. There's a bear on my swamp property, never saw him, never bothered us or ours, just saw his sign here and there and he turned over a rock that the two of us probably couldn't have, and by the prints and claw marks on rock and dirt, proceeded to raid the bugs underneath. A neighbour hit one with his car, wrecked the bumper/fascia/headlight, and left 12 inch guard hairs stuck in the front of his car. Bear walked away, car still driveable but needed repair LOL
For every one you see, there's 100 you don't (like Bigfoot? lol) and they generally don't bother anyone. But there's idiots and assholes out there, and if those groups see one, they will freak and shoot it, or panic and get someone else to shoot it.
My brother lives in Northern Ontario, and the dump is full of bears and bears regularly take a stroll through town. You stay still, look down, and don't feed the wildlife, live and let live.
