If I had to choose between the breeds that you have listed in your tag line, I would go with the dual purpose, and harder to find, Wyandottes.
If I was choosing (chickens) for myself, probably a productive, dual purpose, EE line like WWLady has developed.
If I could only have one type of domestic fowl ever, probably lean towards Magpie ducks. Alright size for consumption, good egg production, pretty and comical, and ducks in general are so hardy.

YES WLLady, I did try that. My EE rooster x my Turken.
Problem is Vampirella is independant & it makes the roo cray!
He mounts her for domination, but so far no fertile eggs.

I suspect however difficult it would be to give up the Ameraucanas, with me the Wyandottes will always be number one.
Do I sense a trend of people trying to make a breed that would incorporate all their favorite traits in one bird ? Interesting angle.

The SHOWGIRL will be my little FURBABY that makes me smile, & sits around to look pretty!!!!!

Blue egg silkie: yep its a legit project. So a poultry friend, Trevor, is working on it. Ameraucana x silkie created a hen that laid a "bigger than silkie" egg and a decent blue but feathering was not good "silkie type". So these hens were bred back to a silkie roo and they have 20 young pullets (Trevor is a butcher so young cockerals are quickly turned into kebabs) that are silkie feathered (i didn't ask if he was shooting for a specific feather colour) and these will be evaluated for blue egg (they should lay in sept) before further breeding or being sold. So bug me in autumn or ask Trevor yourself as he and Lisa run the Renfrew Buy/Sell/Trade events. Oh, and Lisa deserves equal credit for this project (knowing women: she probably deserves more of the credit). I got the full story of this project today.

This year I have a group of Ameraucana chicks growing out separately from a group of Wyandotte chicks, it has been very interesting to compare their temperament.
Wyandottes tend to be naturally more laid back and less outgoing then Ameraucanas,
This is a typical Wyandotte "stand off"

which ends with...ehmm whatever and they go their own way, in the Ameraucana pen, the fight is on!!!
butterfly wondering in to the Wyandotte pen and they run away, in Ameraucana pen, it's lunch.
A definite deciding point if it comes to scaling down the flock.
