If you could only keep one breed of poultry, whether you have actually owned them or just dreamt about having them, which one would you choose??

Hmmmm. For me ducks for sure. Do I have to narrow down the breed of ducks? Haha. I would look like a veal farm with calf hutches set up everywhere.
But if we are talking chickens, I really do love the variety in my Easter Eggers so I'd stick with them.
What about you OC?

Probably Welsummers...I read on my pet chicken that they are the ultimate Zombie apocalypse chicken....Excellent layers and sturdy. Ours have been fantastic.

Me I would have my mutts. Too many others to choose from. or my BSWs but we wouldn't get steady eggs from them.

only 1 breed of poultry? that cant be done! so I'll go with 2 breeds under different circumstances. RIR chickens for sure! n if I cant keep chickens id go with the James Marie Farms Jumbo Coturnix Quail. you cant beat the feed to meat or egg conversion ratio hands down. plus they are full grown n laying in 2 months which also cant be beat by any other breed of poultry.

If I "had" to pick one breed it would be Australorp.

Hands down, it would be Isbars. Fantastic flyers, foragers, beautiful to look at, very calm and gentle, very winter hardy, lovely green egg and love the black legs and eyes.

I am having hard time, love both the breeds I keep and have gone back and forth so many times, if I have to scale down...... Which one?...so I was hoping to glean some wisdom from fellow PSO ers,Maximus wrote:QR_BBPOST

So far all I am getting is lots of excuses why it can't be done, or downright cheating by sliding in some other species

For chickens it would be BLR wyandottes, love their looks and quiet easy going nature...
But oh how I love the pencilled palm turkeys too!
