Water Proof Feeders
Bare with me on this. So with the feeder, because it has one lower end, the feed does not constantly spill to the ground? And only one bird can poke its head into the open end of pipe to feed? I assume it would not take a bird long to figure out. Probably faster than me. Heck, I have geese honking away in the downspouts off the buildings grabbing a sip while on their walkabouts. As I feed outside, l'd love a solution to the sparrows and dogs snacking on feed. Would have to have something that does a couple birds at once, or I would have to have quite a number of these kicking around. Someone mentioned a variation of this that would?

Good thing I asked a question and stated a few different points of views.

I like it too Epona, however I wondered how 40 chickens would feed. Big assembly line is what I vision and a lot of squabbles. I wonder if there is a variation where each main pipe could branch out and have 3-4 access ... But that's some expensive feeders if that many are needed.

I saw this one, but haven't had time to build it yet. Better solution for big flock, but need to put cover over horizontal pipe to weather proof.

Is it OK to leave a salt block out year round? Not for bait, just to (theoretically) help out?

Trouble with a salt lick back in bush all year round Robbie not only do the critters use it but it becomes a good unnatural place for predators to lay in wait . Just like Hawks & cats at a wild bird feeder . LuckRobbie wrote:QR_BBPOST Is it OK to leave a salt block out year round? Not for bait, just to (theoretically) help out?

This thread seems to have strayed from someone's shared idea for a homemade water proof feeder.
