I'm pretty sure I've seen the chart your customer is talking about, and I have to say I was astonished at the picture that said speckled eggs were a sign of a nutrition problem. NOT. I have 2 or 3, 3 year old layers that lay lovely speckled eggs almost every time, and always have. My most prized Giant lays a dark heavily speckled egg, and if she's malnourished, I'll eat my hat. Plus, If they were malnourished, there'd be issues other than speckles, or they'd simply NOT lay eggs. One of my mutts lays a pale creamy ivory coloured egg with pink blotches on it that can make it difficult to tell apart from a small turkey egg, and unless she's got some sort of weird, hidden metabolic disorder, there's no way she's lacking in her diet. Mayyyybeeee if hens were getting too much iron somehow, they'd deposit porphyrin on their eggs but I doubt it. I think your friend has issues LOL

My welsummers used to lay speckled eggs and people wanted those so that person is very fickle. Nothing wrong with pretty freckles.SandyM wrote:QR_BBPOST It's a smooth egg. Some might have a little bit of a raised bump occasionally but for the most part they are just speckled eggs.

Guess who is back wanting 6-8 dozen a month. She can't find egg shell guality like mine and every time she came here previously my hens appear to be healthy and not a filthy mess and are true free Rangers. Interesting.
She has done further research and although she is conflicted with speckled eggs she is ok accepting them now.
Anyways, I let her know I won't have eggs until some time in July possibly August and I'll let her know when I have a few dozen available.

Well I'm not convinced ... We'll see what happens. She still doesn't want them, but will accept them. Anyways. She's a nice person and we get along other than eggs lol. She's very resourceful and shares her knowledge with other things

Thank God! I was about to rush out and give a couple of my hens a physical in case they were on death's door.
Seriously though; my sister in law would research the internet and go to our 60 year old doctor in the late 90s and give him a self diagnosis. Frustrated the hell out of him. His standard answer for the younger crowd became "Why don't you go to Dr. Internet?"
