I'm trying to teach this girl to look after the little ones when they are out, she's having trouble with the concept of keeping them safe and if they wander too far goes after them and puts her foot on them. I have told her she is their guardian not their Squasher.

We used to have a GSD when I was a child. It was OK until my guinea pig wandered too far and she tried to pick it up like a puppy(it was OK). Used to carry around a tortoise until a hole was worn in the shell. Stopped her doing that too before it was too late.

It's a girl Ross, LOL, a very smart girl too, chick wasn't injuried so hoping she learns to be more gentle.

They are very smart dogs, some are just too possessive, I guess it figured the Tortoise was its own special baby.Killerbunny wrote:QR_BBPOST We used to have a GSD when I was a child. Love her Kenya!!! She's beautiful. She'll get the hang of it because she's a German and S.M.A.R.T.!
Cinder used to take HER ducklings out of the pool. When I told her 'off', she was like fine, I'm going in the pool and in she went haha! The Ducks were her favourite and they followed her everywhere.

She likely will. The girl I mentioned used to take care of my rehabilitation birds very well. Curled up with "her flock" and guarded them.
