Split Wing

Post by WLLady » Tue Jun 14, 2016 8:23 am

i'd give him/her some time.....let him/her feather out completely and see. I thought last night my turkey was all messed up....her wing feathers were sticking out all over the place....turns out she wasn't folding them up properly, and had 2 feathers overlapping and throwing all the rest out at a funny angle. as soon as i put them the right way they were all normal and now fold up right. weird bird. must take after me....messy and slobbish....lol so hopefully he/she is actually okay and just looking a bit dorky at this point!

Almost seems like the entire wing structure is too large for the chick and he can't fold it right...too heavy? That wing looks like it belongs on a larger bird...weird!

All five of the Black chicks seem to be very uneven, compared to the Blue chicks, which are cookie cutter even accept for the Blue expression.
If I take in to consideration that breeding Blue Ameraucana to Black Ameraucana constitutes an outcross , I will have to give it some further consideration, hope Shnookie doesn't suggest I hatch 50 of them ;)

No I think 100 would be a better sample size!

Yes that picture makes it much clearer. Very odd indeed.

I agree ,100 sounds better! Definitely something not right with that wing.
