Another beautiful crisp cool sunny morning. I could really get used to this! I had the best sleep last night. Had to add a quilt to the bed and fans blowing and cold air. It was fantastic!!

Hooe everyone has a great day!

Proud turkey with 3 chicken fuzzybutts. just don't go into the pen to do water and feed without a rake for protection! lol
Killerbunny wrote:QR_BBPOST Happy morning here, all the chicks have hatched under my 2 broodies, big THANKS to Kyle who got me the eggs. 2 are from another of Nearly's daughters so I hope they're not both boys LOL. They have black down so easy to pick out. Poor NJ sat patiently for 4 1/2 weeks because the first ones from my hens weren't fertile. 2 little blue chicks too and 2 from the dark brown eggs. Lovely mix all in all!
Congrats to all the new mothers, the turkey mama looks very protective and motherly, :) KB we will need some pics of the chicks!!!

Well,JT driving in his own is a new experince. I met them for dinner last night and then Josh went and picked up some items and did my banking for me and his own. He drives himself to work (our sites haha) he went and picked up some groceries for his lunches and returned some stuff for me to the library. I think that gave me 2 hours back into my day yesterday. Unfortunately, there is a small part of me that is waiting for the phone to ring :( stress!!

Off to port colbourne today to pick up ATV parts. I haven't found the time to get there yet, but heading that way today. Our trail trip has been delayed until we can fix the other atv. Then down to Grimsby for my food bank shift and home late. Tomorrow is target practice, I'm getting there!, then Sunday is BST.

I have to set up the bee hive area tomorrow. What a decision; where to put it. Why do people seem to always put the hives in open areas and close to the road? I'm not understanding that. Anyways.

Six weeks and 1 day until I pick up my pup!! Woohoo!

Next week I'm fitting my truck with crates for the dogs. I've had a 'beater' van that I take drake to the vet, groomer, lake, hikes etc., but I have now taken the van off the road. So I'm looking for airline approved crates for the back of the truck.

Well, I gotta think about getting moving as I finish my second cup of coffee, y'all have a great day!!

Anyone doing rib fest in hamilton?

Good Morning!

good morning everyone!
cool mornings are wonderful! went out to open up the coop to let the outside girls putt around and sitting just outside the door to the coop was a just barely big enough to fly baby robin that i fear my cat dragged home (hopefully not....). seemed okay (hungry lol) and mom robin was very concerned and the one cat was going to be out for the day, so i had hubby put it gently up on top of the coop where the cat couldn't get to it, and hopefully mom will take care of it there. looks feathered enough to fly...just badly. so it probably launched out of the nest in the rafters of the barn.....i'm hoping.
all 77 chicks (yep! 77!) are doing great! tonight is photo ops and banding of the ones that i want to keep for future projects....decided i'm going to keep on with a few of the lines, but most of the rest are going to be moved in the next month or so. i should know wednesday next week what is going on, i hate this not knowing and waiting thing.
and 3 chicks under turkey mom are all eating and drinking and i don't think she's sick of them quite yet....but i sure got a funny look from her this morning as i was checking her water - a "i'm a good mom but these things don't listen to me" kind of look as the one tried to run out the door as she was calling to it....lol.
my layer coop broody is down for the count...she's been valiantly trying to hatch golf balls for 2 weeks now. either she has to get to guelph or i need to give her eggs. starting to hand feed her so she eats something. she's tiny to begin with and getting tinier. at least she's figured out that the big evil hand has feed and isn't going to hurt her so she stopped screaming and biting, she still poofs though...and still gives hubby the what for...LOL.
almost the weekend! yay! on my list, finishing the garden planting (lettuce, broccoli and cauliflower transplants) and then cleaning turkey pens....
hope everyone has a great day!

Morning everyone
Love these cool bright mornings. My chicks don't like it so much, so I leave their room closed until later. All the other birds can't what to get out. It's like the start of a Nascar race.

Cleaned out 3 of the duck nests last night. 2 eggs that still look good, so left them under Daisy. The other 3 hens were upset, but soon enjoyed their freedom.
The other big duck nest ( had 20+ eggs, took out 4 sloshers) has action. Some pips and peeping. Will keep you posted.

Will have busy day. Getting packed to go camping with my Scouting group. Scouts, cubs and beavers going. 1st time camping for a lot of the beavers. Have lots to keep them busy so they don't think of home.

Husband is going to look after critters while we're gone. Don't know where I would be without him. He arranged his week to get a run that would get him back today.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning!! Sounds like you have alot to do WLLady. Funny about the turkey with the chicks. They probably don't 'talk turkey', lol.

I was just texted a bull calf out there this morning. That means after coffee... bring the 'stuff'. They won't like the heat coming tomorrow... but I will!

They radio'd me this morning, that they are coming to swap out my bus... mine needs a service. So, I spent 10 minutes getting my stuff out. Extra hats/gloves... coat... winter supplies, which aren't needed now anyhow. And other stuff, like my sunglasses that stay in.. my clock...

I cut more grass yesterday, and its mostly up to date. IF it warms up I may do the laneway later, and then I won't have to cut grass at all all weekend. I need to weed the garden tho. Maybe water the onions again.. the ground looks parched where they are.

I have still, lots of pepper plants I'm not needing. Anyone want?

I also see some of my zuchinni seeds have been chewed, as they have come up. Probably flea beetles. HATE THOSE THINGS.

So... may stick a few more seeds in the ground there, and check other things. Probably rake hay in the afternoon, if Gary needs me to.

So.... have a great weekend everyone! (have fun camping redninja.... don't envy you there, lol. Hope we don't get those storms they are predicting for tomorrow. Hopefully NO rain, and we get this hay off, if its not ready today.)

Do you ever look into your walk in closet and wonder if it has its own climate system? Like I don't know, yesterday was tornados and the day before was hurricanes ALLL DAY? I feel like I should call the troops in for clean up and disaster relief.

So the closet is on my schedule today. I gotta get the gun safe put in back of closet, hang the cross bow instead of it laying on my bedroom floor.

Since I decided to not go to rib fest in Hamilton, weather, too many people and noises, I decided to have my own rib fest at home! Ribs, coleslaw, baked taters and salad. Woohoo!!

It was spitting out, now I see the sun is trying to come out. It's already so humid and it's 9:30 in the morning.

Worked soooo hard at the food bank yesterday I'm a bit achy today.

I decided to pull the spinach and I'm going to replace with something else. Maybe get over to BVF and steal some peppers

I don't know what is up with my oregano. I have never struggled growing it in previous years. It's really struggling. Any suggestions?

Well I gotta go and post in the garden section re: coffee grinds

Enjoy your weekend!!

Cheers
