"FRIEND or FOE" ~ do you bother & why?

Post by Poultryprincess » Tue Jun 07, 2016 9:48 pm

I find there are some folks that I "Often" check up on. Read their posts even if I don't have a reply.
I thought if I made them a "Friend" then I could read their posts easier...well it doesn't hurt anyway.
I've already added a bunch of my Favorite folks as a friend, so no harm done. THANX

"FRIEND or FOE" ~ do you bother & why?

Haha, I didn't even know there were those options on here. At the old PSO, I had three people on my ignore list. It actually takes a LOT to make that list. One was a horrendous troll with dissociative identity disorder (or something), the kicker was when he called Ross some awful and unwarranted names. One was She Who Must be Obeyed, didn't own chickens because they were too much work, but felt perfectly free to tell others her stupid ideas on how to deal with their poultry...she got under my skin to the point that I wanted to shake her until her teeth rattled. The third was one who is just plain STOOOPID, willfully and happily ignorant, and willfully and happily (and drunkenly) tear down your opinions if they differ with hers, and thoroughly insult your beliefs while she's at it. She's a member of this 'new' forum, but a blessedly infrequent poster. As to the friend list, I don't see the need--I read almost everything, and subscribe to the things I want to keep up on.

I just use the old 'kiss' principle...i have been on computers since you could get a cloned ibm machine back in '81-'82...it was easier then..less options...software today has too many choices and its not intuitive no matter what anyone says...one persons intuition is another persons obstacle...so i dont bother with any of it...i just read whats presented..even if its complete nonsense IMO...yeah, some people are trolls, nasty, me mes, or just plainly a waste of space but its easier to read or ignore than try to figure out features...now where is that axe?

Yes, Maximus. Right below the thread topic is an icon of a wrench with drop down option. Click on the drop down and you can subscribe, bookmark, email or print. Very handy.

I see we had the same "ignore" contingent on PSO ;)
I found it really sad how many members just fell by the wayside during that time of "skirmishes" who had made some great contribution to the hobby and simply didn't want to deal with unpleasantness and really, who can blame them.
I don't have anybody as either friend or foe, just subscribe the threads that interest me.
When I don't have time to read everything I just look at "Unread Posts" and scan thru the last posts to see who is the contributor and pick and choose who I read, just like others, I have my favorites :)

"FRIEND or FOE" ~ do you bother & why?

Post by poultry_admin » Wed Jun 08, 2016 8:49 pm

And that is why I would like to tell you guys that you are amazing!!!

All of you!!

We will have our 6 month anniversary coming up on Saturday. And we got there with 2-3 items where we admins needed to get involved. And I don't really want to call them issues or problems, because they were not.
I think the stats of ONLY 8 out of 550 people finding and using the friends or foes feature speaks for itself. And those who use it only have friends!

Just like you heard us say at the beginning, we admins still will do everything in our power that it stays that way, too. But that needs your constant help. So best way to get an issue dealt with quickly is by flagging the post by hitting the exclamation mark on the top right and explaining what bugs you. The next admin online will deal with it. That is much better than PM'ing your favorite admin and wait until he/she comes online next.
You flagging something is only visible to admins!

Keep it up! Keep it growing!!

Chickens are my way to unwind, personally! It's the main reason why I take obscenely long to do poultry chores, and why I enjoy spending time on this forum. Reading about birds, looking at birds, writing about birds :) I'm an unrepentant addict LOL. Several times on the old forum, it had the opposite effect, and I avoided it so as not to get wound UP! No doubt several people felt the same and that it just wasn't worth the drama anymore.

I have to thank you, PTO founders and admins, for pulling that rabbit out of your hat, and putting this wonderful forum together, and keeping it together. 6 months!!! It seems like yesterday, and I only see the end result, but it must take many hours to build and maintain. And, THANK YOU PTO members, for being such a wonderful, committed, low-maintenance, low-drama bunch of enthusiasts LOL!
