Good Morning!
Well my brother got a liver and kidney transplant. He's doing fairly well. Everybody gone this week (Carla on course, mom and dad went to toronto hospital) so i was home later than planned wed night, 4 guineas disappeared (too dumb to go in the barn). There's been a fox sneaking around. Took the remaining 6 and locked them in the shed. Now the barn is empty (except for geese) so i have no excuses to clean it out and reconfigure it. Got two windows I can put in (they were windows but boarded up by last owner) that'll make it a lot brighter. I can build more pens and put in more lights and outlets. I want to build a brooder room so I can start early with chicks.

Good Morning!
Ditto on Ross' sentiment, Baron...hope the recovery goes well...
Its not morning anymore, not by a long shot but this brew is going down well after a long day...lost the gold laced wyandotte chick earlier this weak...i suspected it wasnt thriving...sad but oh well...all the others are doing well...thank you OC for the eggs...the broody didn't take kindly to my removing the eggs but settled on nicely with the new submission...broodies are a strange bunch...lol..really interesting...so interesting in fact i have some pinpoint bruises on the back of my hand where she nailed me...took a deck apart today...salvaged a whole truckload of PT 2*8s...and the new coop will become a reality that much sooner...i only have the roof and the siding to actually buy...always nice to salvage...well, back to relaxing...

Good Morning!
Best of luck to your brother, baronrenfrew. My nephew is also on the multiple organ transplant list. It's a tough thing for him to be waiting for someone to die so that he can have a chance at a bit more life.
Aw, sorry to hear that you lost your gold laced Wyandotte, TomK. Not alot you can do if they aren't thriving.
Tip for working around broodies: wear gardening gloves. LOL. Mine gave me a few good shots when I was removing the fake wooden eggs after replacing them with day-old chicks. How's that for gratitude?!
I love broodies. If they attack my hand, that makes them good mothers in my book. I think MJ will be won over once the chicks arrive and she gets to watch the whole "hen raising chicks" experience.
It never gets old for me.

Good Morning!
Well, another Saturday morning...had all kinds of anticipation to get s--t done today, heck I was even looking forward to cutting the grass, but noooooo...road crew this morning at nine (barely get that third cup of coffee into me) . In our road association, the guys get together every spring to trim back the road, we just walk it, yakking and getting caught up on the winters news, snips and lops in hand..the road is about 2 kliks long so it doesn't take long and its usually a good time....then back to the house, clean up and off to the home for a bbq luncheon with the mother in law...she wont really know what's going on, but who knows really?...may get back by three so I should have time to actually cut the grass...then get cleaned up again and off to a stag and doe for a great young lady and her beau who I've known since she was born ...i sure hope it doesn't rain before i get the grass cut at least...nothing else is gonna get done...and theres still some stuff to get into the garden...what a week

Good Morning!
i hope your brother's recovery is good, fast and full baron!!!
grass is definitely brown/yellow here.... LOL just had a thought-my grass is "buff" coloured LOL
can't wait for rain! i'll be out playing in it in the garden planting the last of the stuff to go in like squash and pumpkins and a few more onions and head lettuce....broccoli and cauliflower small plants all started in the greenhouse.
then munchkins to move out to the grow out coop and babies in the incubator to mark for identification and get to the brooder! yay! and see if anything hatched under the turkeys (they should have last night or should today).
then i'm putting out the sprinkler. the horses are all cranky because they're eating hay again. vet was here yesterday, and farrier, and they got all trimmed up so they aren't walking on their feathers anymore. molly's tail is docked but was so long she was walking on it, so tails and manes trimmed....thoroughly fly sprayed with wipe stuff. works well. was nice to just priss them over.
hope everyone has a great day

Good Morning!
skunk outside at midday heading towards the turkey paddock. Must have been something off with it. I don't have the electric fence on in the day because of the babies running around. Anyway it's no longer a problem but I had to sit with the youngsters because they didn't like the bang poor things!

KB...i've been to your place..lol..how did you manage a 'bang' with neighbours so close?...
Well, i lived thru yesterday...man, i can't take these stag/doe things any more...just crazy noisy...my ears are still ringing as i sit here with my coffee, watching the rain...yes, RAIN....yeeeeeeeHAH!!!!!...finally...straight down, hard and soaking...man its great...soooo needed
Silly broody...cleaned out all the laid eggs from the nesting boxes on Friday night, including whatever the broody had laid/stolen/tried to hide, and put the fertile eggs under her that i received ....yesterday morning i went out to chk on her and she had noticed the other hens laying eggs in her favourite box and got up and moved over to set those...what is it about nesting box favourites?...anyway, took her eggs from under her and replaced the new ones again...this morning it all seems stable...it must be the box...go figure...anyway, hopefully there will be Ameraucana chicks in my future...fingers crossed

Good Morning!
Neighbours all farmers so very happy! Last time I had an issue with something rather larger I was asked "do we still have a problem?" I said "no we don't" and the reply was "Thanks, you did us a service"
